Stylish, cosy and finished in a comforting hygge-style, the interior of the property will immediately lull you into a state of relaxation from the moment you shed your muddy boots and pour yourself a chilled glass of wine. Perfectly appointed for large groups, you’ll soon be lighting the dual aspect wood burner and settling down for an evening of entertainment, catching up together in the lounge area or descending on the fabulous kitchen to cook up a storm. Beamed ceilings, sumptuous furniture and tasteful decor feature throughout, and the contemporary stairs are set against the exposed stone for a classic extra touch. A short drive from the house will bring you into the centre of Richmond, a diverse market town awash with potential for sightseeing, shopping and basking in the local culture. Set on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale, Richmond boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a historic Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll into town for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms there or pop over for dinner at one of the excellent restaurants.

The gorgeous River Swale runs through the town and, across the river, less than 1 mile away, are the scenic River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the scenic countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as the ‘Gateway to the Dales’, so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages and, if you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 14 miles from the farmhouse, near Middleham. Aysgarth Falls, 18 miles away, and Bolton Castle, 16 miles from your base, are also worth seeing.

The historic village of Easby, home to Easby Abbey, is just 4 miles away. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months. This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many picturesque routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes through Richmond.

Further afield, 12 miles away, Barnard Castle is another hot spot for retail therapy and sampling local delights – and is also home to the iconic Bowes Museum and Egglestone Hall Gardens, a must for any day trip. Those in search of golfing opportunities be well served by the choice of two courses within 7 miles.

The Farm House was just what we needed for 6 couples to meet up and stay. All the en-suite bedrooms were very similar and were beautifully decorated, so everyone was happy. The house was very clean on arrival and plenty logs to get fire going. The kitchen is very well equipped, the only thing we were missing were oven gloves, but that was soon rectRead moreified when we went up to the office. Its very spacious with the open plan living. You definitely get wow factor when you first walk in, and all of the bedrooms are lovely. There is a large island in the kitchen area, but only two stools - the cottage sleeps 12, so a few more stools would have been welcome. More heating is definitely needed as it's a large open space and particularly the orangery/dining room is very cold and uncoRead moremfortable and because it's open to the living space, it never felt really warm, despite having the log burner going all the time. Amazing house with everything you need. Bedrooms are amazing and the beds really comfortable. The house has everything you needs and is very clean. Great spacious house for all the guests! And walking distance to a pub that does great Sunday dinner.

Dining area cold, but this was a very cold spell of weather. Some extra kitchen equipment like potato masher etc would help when catering in the house. Lovely rooms and furnishings but open plan downstairs was hard to heat. Would loved to go back in the summer when we could take advantage of the outdoor seating areas.

Amazing cottage stay in an excellent location. Mandy and the team provided the perfect home from home for our long weekend away as a group of 11. The cottage was equipped with everything we could need and finished to a very high standard. The communication from booking to departure was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

The cottage is very beautiful and clean. The views and location are stunning. I would definitely recommend this cottage to any one looking to have peaceful surroundings. The dcor in all the rooms is very nice and the beds are very comfortable.

This property is about 100 metres from a busy wedding venue with loud disco music about 4 nights a week and the noise from wedding guests goes on well into the early hours. So not a peaceful cottage in the countryside. The property and views are stunning but take your own hairdryer as there is only 1! We also experienced problems with the wifi. Incredible. Beautiful area. Perfect for a relaxing holiday. Only slight problem is that there is no wifi and signal in parts of the cottage. But other than that, everything was perfect. Highly recommend!

Lovely cottage at a perfect location for a relaxed holiday. Very clean and amazing views. Only slight downsides were no phone signal and poor WiFi meant you couldnt work if needed too plus very squeaky upstairs floorboards.
