It is ideally situated to explore the vineyards and wine cellars of Burgundy as well as a wealth of fascinating historical sites and museums. Although the château is in a beautiful country location, it is still within a short driving distance of local amenities. ACTIVITIES NEARBY: The nearby town of Chalon-sur-Saône is the former birthplace of Nicéphore Niepce, the inventor of photography. Explore the picturesque gardens and maze of the 17th century Château de Cormatin (43 minutes), which is without doubt one of the most elegant châteaux in Burgundy, or discover the atmospheric chapel, prison and square dungeon dating back to the 12th century of the Château de Couches (43 minutes), proudly soaring up amidst the green and rolling landscape of the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise (approx 25 minutes).

If you’re looking for an active holiday in France be sure to admire the natural wonder of the Hérisson Falls in Jura. A way marked footpath of 3.7 km leads you around a series of 31 spectacular waterfalls, each one more beautiful than the last, some over 60 metres high. Another highlight of the local area is the Green Way, a cycle track created from tens of kilometres of old railway track that lends itself perfectly to cycling or walking. From Chalon-sur-Saône to Charnay-lès-Mâcon, the track passes through several charming villages and sites of historical interest.
