Half an hour from the Channel Tunnel, the Chateau du Nord is a spectacular property that was built in the 1880's by one of the region's richest families. It has recently been renovated to the highest standard.
The impressive entrance hall with grand staircase, wonderful wood-panelled reception rooms, and library ooze opulence and create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The dining room table can accommodate up to 30 guests or if you wish to entertain larger parties, 120 can be seated comfortably in the stable block - a great backdrop for a wedding reception, and the extensive grounds are perfect for photographs.
The stables have recently been completely refurbished to be a wedding venue, with a dance area, bar, kitchens and toilets. The area can be open at one end, but quickly closed in the event of a change in the weather. The clear roof provides the venue with beautiful soft lighting during the day, and the whole structure is lit by 25,000 fairy lights at night.
As well as the main reception rooms, there is a snooker room with a 3/4 snooker table, a large playroom on the top floor with table tennis and table football, a room with a very high ceiling that has a full-size trampoline, and a mini-tennis court in the stable block, great for keeping all ages entertained. The chateau sleeps up to 26 within 12 rooms. There are 11 bathrooms, 10 of which are en-suite.
Located on the edge of a village, the chateau's grounds include four hectares of lawn and woodland to explore, a tennis court and a stretch of the River Aa. The house was built to be home to a large family, where they could entertain in great style - making it perfect for a celebration or group getaway. The house can be reached so quickly from the UK (just 2 hours from St Pancras by train and taxi) that it is the perfect venue for weekends and mini-breaks, and ideal for those who want a holiday that avoids airports.
