A beautiful and imposing chateau located within the heart of the Burgundy region, Burgundy Castle was built in 1571 and still retains much of its character and charm, having been lovingly maintained and tastefully renovated within the past few years.

Situated just a stone’s throw from the medieval town of Romenay, it’s perfectly placed in easy reach of necessary amenities as well as sitting close to a handful of celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants, all set against the backdrop of the areas stunning scenery.

The chateau features ten bedrooms (all en-suite) and one child’s room. Seven bedrooms offer king-sized beds, three bedrooms have twin beds and the child’s bedroom features a single bed and a small child/toddler bed. Two cots are also available on request.

Shared spaces such as the kitchen, dining and living spaces are modern and beautifully decorated whilst retaining original features and plenty of character. And although the rooms remain divided, they are comfortable, ample and offer enough privacy for those wishing to get away from the general hubbub for a moment or two…

Other recreational amenities in the castle include a PlayStation 3, table tennis, petanque table, darts, games, poker table, pool table and table football.

Set within 7-acres of private parkland – including a private fishing pond and spectacular gardens – the chateau spans nearly 1000m2 of living space, including outbuildings; an impressive amount of grounds to enjoy a holiday in.

Facilities within the grounds of Burgundy Castle include the Espace "wellness" spa in the outbuildings, with gym and weight training, sauna, steam room, massage room and a heated swimming pool, the latter of which is open from April 1st to October 31st. There is also a giant trampoline, children's playground, outdoor ping-pong, indoor ping-pong, volley ball field and four bikes included within the facilities.

All of July and August 2018 is booked.

SLEEPS 20+1: 11 bedrooms: 7 en-suite king size, 3 en-suite twins. 1 child bedroom with a child’s bed and a baby bed.

ADDITIONAL BEDS: 2 cots are available on request.

COOK + DINE: 1 well-equipped kitchen with island and breakfast bar with seating and a formal dining area with room for up to 20. BBQ available. Highchair available. External catering can be arranged.

RELAX: 5 reception rooms including a living area with soft seating and TV, sports room, games room, poker room and billiard room. Sauna, gym and steam room.

BATHE: 10 bathrooms: 9 en-suite shower rooms, 1 en-suite bathroom.

OUTSIDE: 7 acres of private parkland and gardens with a private fishing pond, playground, trampoline, heated swimming pool (April to end of October) and outdoor ping-pong. 4 bikes and parking available.

LOCAL AREA: Burgundy Castle is just 3 minutes from the medieval town of Romenay which has an array of shops, a few restaurants and is great for picking up essentials. Food lovers must take a trip to Tournus, capital of gastronomy in Burgundy with many Michelin-starred restaurants to enjoy and just 15km from the castle. Tournos also has a local farmers' market every Saturday morning and sports lovers will appreciate the ‘blue route’ cycle path that runs through Tournes along the Saône from Mâcon to Chalon sur Saône.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Burgundy Castle is a great base for sightseeing trips. The medieval village of Brancion is just 23km away and worth a visit with its charming streets and wonderful views from the chapel. The castle of Cormatin is, without a doubt, one of the most elegant chateaux in Burgundy and 36km from Bugundy Castle. It boasts beautiful gardens and in the summer hosts theatrical performances as part of the ‘Rendez-vous de Cormatin’.

For days out with the kids, Touroparc, a zoo and amusement park boasts over 800 animals and is a relaxing and recreational space. There’s also a rope adventure course, train and carousel to enjoy plus during the summer months, the water is filled with fun slides and games. All activities at Tourparc are included in the one off entry fee and it's approx. 52km from Burgundy Castle.
