Stepping inside the byre, you will find the beautifully presented open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Featuring timber beams in the high vaulted ceiling, this spacious room is the heart of the property and makes a great space for everyone to get together, relax and chat. The cheery lounge surrounds the wood burner, and has a Smart TV and scenic views out through the French doors. The central dining table provides a sociable space to get together to mark a special occasion or simply enjoy a hearty family meal which you can rustle up in the generously equipped and stylishly designed kitchen. The main byre has the first two of the property’s four delightful bedrooms: a charming king-size room and a pretty twin, alongside a relaxing family bathroom. The cottage enjoys a useful location just outside Crook (3 miles) and between Durham (7 miles) and Bishop Auckland (6 miles). Crook is a charming market town with some great places to eat and drink, and makes a great base for exploring the North Pennines (9 miles) and the County Durham countryside. Local attractions include the epic Kynren show, Auckland Castle, Low Barnes Nature Reserve, Brancepeth Castle and the Wolsingham Show, all within 9.5 miles. The city of Durham has a wealth of attractions including the castle, cathedral, museum and university, as well as Crook Hall Gardens and The Count’s House.

We had a wonderful week in this cottage. Gorgeously renovated, extremely comfy and spotless. It felt very spacious and private with the two buildings as well as an outdoor eating area and the hot tub. Lovely views, footpaths from the front door and plenty to see and do nearby.
