A unique and stylish property laid out in a reverse-level style, characterised by roaring fires, wooden beams, and awe-inspiring views of the mountains beyond.

Deep in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, sleeping eight guests across four bedrooms, this home from home is perfect for groups of family and friends. With tantalizing views across the surrounding peaks which you’ll soon be exploring, invite two of your dogs along to enjoy these scenic spots with you. Settle right in and surround yourself with the rustic charm, cosy creature comforts and breathtaking views which this home exudes.

Sitting beneath climbing wisteria is the fabulous first-floor living space where you will instantly feel at home. The impressive, vaulted ceiling stands tall above a roaring wood burner, perfectly surrounded by comfortable chairs and sofas. Here you can enjoy slow mornings with a pot of tea on the coffee table, or sociable evenings with a glass of something cold in hand and the 60s Wurlitzer jukebox which will get lively guests jiving the night away. Fill up on delicious feasts cooked up in the bright kitchen which can be enjoyed around the dining table or taken outside into the flowering garden, where a BBQ is the perfect solution to sizzling sundowner meals. Resting your head is a real treat in the four light, bright bedrooms. Find two bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms up a small staircase, and descend a winding oak staircase to the remaining two rooms and the family bathroom - great for starting the day with a relaxing soak in the tub. Stacked high with books and with plenty of space to leave wellies, coats and leads, the grand hallway is filled with country charm. If muddy boots and paws need wiping down, make use of the handy ground-floor utility room which is also home to a further fridge/freezer, great for storing picnic treats to grab on your way out, or cooling ice creams to enjoy after a summer’s day adventure. There is ample off-road parking.

Scale peaks, tread well-trodden paths and enjoy family-friendly activities all without jumping in the car. Scale the summits of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, and Cribyn (both 6.5 miles), for views to remember forever. From the highest peak to the largest natural lake in South Wales, visit Llangorse Lake (11 miles) and split the thrill-seekers from those fancying a nice quiet wander, as those who fancy trying their hand at something new can visit the activity centre. Llangorse Lake is home to the only Crannog in England and Wales, hunt it out and imagine the tales this tiny dwelling could tell. Visit the market town of Brecon for days spent browsing the shops, cathedral and eateries, or wait until evening and plan a night out at the cinema for all to enjoy.

Crofftau is a beautiful, characterful stay which we return to year after year. The location and views are truly second to none with access straight from the door onto the hills. The owners keep the gardens beautifully and you can sit out there and look straight out at the highest and most dramatic Brecon peaks.

A delightful home for our winter break, despite torrential rain all week, followed by Storm Eunice!! Kim and Sue came to check that we were ok and they really do care about their guests. It was a pleasure to see them again. You couldn't ask for nicer hosts. Old Crofftau has a special place in the Harris family hearts.
