There’s also plenty of seating in the dining room which has an original Victorian fireplace with an open fire, as well as a piano, music system and a choice of board games. The central grand dining table offers a fantastic space for you to celebrate a special occasion together. The colourful and stylishly designed kitchen has a breakfast table and plenty of equipment for you to rustle up a range of favourite dishes. Heading upstairs, the first floor offers the first four of this extensive property’s eight bright and relaxing bedrooms. Here, there’s a choice between two en-suite king-size rooms, a family room with three single beds, and a delightful single room, along with an invigorating shower room. The final four bedrooms, all with exposed beams set in low sloping ceilings, are all on the second floor. Here you can choose between three twin rooms and a cosy double, all with lovely views and hand basins. There’s also a useful second-floor family bathroom and a separate shower room. Boot has a welcoming pair of pubs and is a great base for exploring Eskdale. Local landmarks include Burnmoor Tarn (2.5 miles by foot), Stanley Ghyll Waterfall (6 miles) and Hardknott Roman Fort (3 miles). Wastwater (8 miles) and Scafell Pike (7 miles by foot) are to the north, or you can take a steam train to the pretty seaside village of Ravenglass (8 miles).

We very much enjoyed staying at Esk View and loved the location Holiday Cottages were hard to deal with and not very helpful. Sally's Cottages much better

The house was large, comfortable and warm, very well equipped, with plenty of different sitting spaces and a huge table to sit round. It was very suitable for a large extended family get together. There are a number of walks straight from the house and plenty of room to park.

Great house for a group this was our 5th year looking to book for next year already - 12 adults with plenty of room and space to move around and the most amazing dining table seating easilly 16 people if required, the house is a superb base for walking with lots of various grade walks to be had. The nearby pubs are recommended with The Brook House Read morebeing closest staff really look after you special mention to The George, The Boot Inn & The Woolpack all offer good food & booze. Hide

The property is comfy, cosy and very well equipped. 14 of us stayed over the Christmas week and we had a great time- seeing the local area and playing lots of games! The Boot Inn is well worth a visit, as is the Mill. Plus a trip on the train to Ravenglass is a nice day out too.

A beautiful house nestled in an idyllic spot off the beaten track. For us, returning to Esk View is like getting a big hug from an old friend! We all had a wonderful stay at Esk View. There was plenty of room for our large family get together (8 adults and 6 children) and it was well equipped for us all. The location is beautiful with many lovely walks and places to visit. We all agreed that we would love to come back to Esk View again sometime.

This house, although having eight bedrooms, does not have grand reception or dining rooms where you can gather, eat and socialise as a large group. Fantastic weekend 12 adults loads of space good facilities. The property is good value for what you get it would be hard to beat anywhere. Special mention to the Brook House staff amazing food and drink first class.

Fantastic house in an amazing location. Had everything we needed for a great long weekend. There are really nice walks going from the house so you don't even need to go anywhere once you are there. Kitchen had all the pots, pans and things we needed. Beds were comfy. A lovely stay.

Our party of 12. Made up of three families really enjoyed staying in this house. It is comfortable, roomy and in a lovely location. There is plenty to do from many walks from the door either low level or up to Scafel. Railway 5 mins walk too. Look out for the deer that seem to live in the garden and a huge frog (or toad?).

Over the years this house has become my large family's favourite holiday stay. There's a nice balance of luxury and comfort. What is unusual about it in the class of houses of with so many bedrooms is that the other facilities (e.g. kitchen, dining room and lounge) can cope with the full number of occupants.
