Rylstone may be a tiny village nestled at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, but its reputation precedes it thanks to its glittering significance as the inspiration behind Wordsworth’s famous poem ‘The White Doe of Rylstone’. Not only this, but some of its residents are the original Calendar Girls, the motivation for the well-known film. The Grade II-listed church, stone obelisk and historic cross are worth exploring for a step back in time, and there are lots of glorious scenic walks across the fells available from your front doorstep.

The historic town of Skipton (4.5 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham.

It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (9 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. There are a host of other attractions all within easy reach including Malham Cove and Malham Tarn (both within 10.5 miles).

Settle (19 miles) is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday - the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening! Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK.

Crossing into the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Pateley Bridge (15 miles) is a charming little market town, very typical of this area of Yorkshire. The main street is peppered with cafes, restaurants, local stores, quality butchers and a wine shop; everything you need to stock up for your stay. You'll also find the self-proclaimed 'Oldest Sweet Shop in England' here dating back to the early 1800s. From here, there are plenty of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks (19 miles).

Probably one of the prettiest barns we have stayed in. Beautifully appointed. Everything you could possibly need As it is just off a lay-by there is noise but the owners do not hide this fact - just be aware of it, but it certainly will not spoil your stay The walks are out of this world. We were thoroughly impressed by the house, very high standard, much bigger than we thought from the photos! Check in was smooth and we had a lovely welcome package waiting for us. It was perfect for our group of 6 adults, 3 babies, a toddler and 2 dogs. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

The barn was beautiful and spacious. The kitchen was very well stocked with cutlery and crockery. The beds were also very cosy and comfortable. However, due to the inability to heat the living room and bedrooms to keep us comfortably warm throughout the day and evening we had to leave a day early.

Lovely stonebuilt barn easily accessible for Skipton, Bolton Abbey etc. Quirky and spacious with the advantage of Lilly Barn next door if you're lucky enough to book both for an occassion.

This was a very lovely barn conversion, exceptionally well equipped. Ideal for visiting the Yorkshire dales. We were all blown away when first entering the property at the standard of furnishing and space available. More than enough room for 8 people staying, even there was only 6 of us but 3 different generations.

Fantastic. A really lovely house that has been tastefully renovated - cannot fault any of the design. Beds were super comfy, showers hot and powerful and the communal areas were extremely spacious. The rear outdoor area gets the sun all of the day - perfect for a few drinks and a BBQ.

Lovely property, clean, warm, great location for visiting places like Skipton and Harrogate. Kitchen well stocked. Lovely toilets and bathrooms. The only negative for me was the lack of a secure area / garden for the dogs. Probably my fault for not reading the reviews properly. We would definitely go back though. Thanks

The location is perfect for local walks and for trips further into the dales. Dont miss a meal at the Devonshire in Cracoe the food is delicious. Dont hesitate to book this place its well worth it.
