Bright, light-filled detached property enjoying a fantastic elevated location overlooking Steephill Cove on the Isle of Wight’s south coast and offering contemporary-style accommodation for eight guests.

This property is located in one of the Isle of Wight’s most beautiful hidden gems: the pretty seaside hamlet of Steephill Cove, just over a mile outside the popular town of Ventnor. The beach at Steephill Cove is accessible only on foot, and therefore offers a tranquil retreat from some of the island’s busier stretches of seafront. Steephill Cove is a laid-back kind of place, where instead of arcades and amusements, the beachfront offers a well-regarded restaurant and a seasonal crab shack. Above the cove, Ventnor Botanic Gardens is a wonderful place to spend the day walking amongst the plants and stopping for lunch at the cafe or the well-regarded restaurant which specialises in the local produce.

This spacious property has been designed in a reverse-level fashion in order to make the most of the spectacular views, meaning that the main living area can be found on the first floor. Taking the stairs from the hallway, guests will find the welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where a large picture window offers stunning sea views which can be enjoyed from the choice of sofas and chairs. It is hard to take your eyes off the view, but if you can manage to, there is a TV/DVD providing entertainment, or alternatively why not while away the evening over drinks on the balcony? In the kitchen area, a large dining table is a great place for spending time together over leisurely meals which can be prepared with ease thanks to the excellent range of equipment which includes an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. A washing machine, meanwhile, is housed separately elsewhere in the property. One of the bedrooms is also on the upper floor: a double room with its own en-suite bathroom offering a shower-over-bath and WC. The remaining bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, two of which are twin rooms, with the other being an attractive double room. There is also a shower room on this floor offering a shower and WC.

In addition to the sea-view balcony, the property also enjoys an attractive garden which is mainly set to lawn, for which garden furniture is provided, and which is accessed via external steps to the side of the property. There is parking for two cars on the driveway to the front of the house.

Please note there is a refundable £200 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The location and seaview from the upstairs living room and ensuite bedroom are delightful and the spacious combined kitchen/diner/living room ideal for 6 or 8. The creaky floorboards when moving about upstairs can disturb young children not yet asleep in the 3 downstairs bedrooms. The first part of the path to the Steephill Cove beach is steep in pRead morelaces and requires surefootedness. Steephill Cove is charming and very attractive Hide

The Cottage was in a lovely location with great views and very quite, ideal for relaxing. Straight out the back gate and you are right on the coastal path or a short walk into town via the road. The cottage had everything we required and was very spacious.

The property is clean, comfortable, has stunning views over the sea form the upstairs lounge and balcony. The four grandchildren loved the 'secret path' from the garden down to the cove and went rock-pooling every day. Plenty of places to visit on the Isle of Wight all only a short drive away. Property ideally located for Botanical Gardens and VentRead morenor itself. (not walkable for elderly or those with mobility issues as drive extremely steep.) Local pub, Spy Glass, has excellent food. Hide

Lovely cottage well equipped and stocked. Very clean although the location was a bit far out the views from the sitting room were stunning. The balcony was a perfect place to sit and admire the views.

We have stayed at Western Lines several times and love it. Always sad to leave. It's clean, warm and comfortable and has a view to die for. Very much a family place.

Western lines cottage is definitely worth a visit. Clean and well equipped, comfortably accommodated six. The views from most of the rooms are spectacular and the terrace was great for enjoying a glass of wine whilst looking out to sea. Good location for exploring the Island. Beach is a short but steep walk away.

Great cottage, but access up narrow, steep lane. Great to see pheasants & red squirrel in garden. Close to coastal path.
