Beautiful five-star property, offering chic and spacious accommodation for ten guests, located in the picturesque foodie village of Cartmel, opposite the village’s imposing Norman priory.

Immersed in both history and beauty, this property is set in the beautiful village of Cartmel and is a Grade II listed building, believed to date back to the 14th century. Now, this luxury self-catering home gives large groups the chance to run away to the Lake District for sophisticated soirees and evenings tucked up by the fire, a true escape to the country.

Ageing with grace, the mullioned windows, original fireplaces and hidden passages are still in impeccable condition and the house retains many other nods to its medieval and Georgian past.

You'll find the property at the end of a track that runs along the west wall of the priory, and there are two entrances to choose from; the main door opens into the hall, the other lets you directly into the kitchen. Prepare dishes on the stone worktops and cook on an AGA under a canopy of original oak beams. The warm ambience from the kitchen flows through into the main dining room, where there is a long table for hosting animated feasts or more intimate meals. Relish in simpler past times in one of the two charming sitting rooms, both tastefully furnished with soft fabrics, elegant lighting and a toasty wood burner. One has attractive Georgian panelling and a comfy window nook where you can curl up with a book facing the ancient priory. The other offers a baby grand piano for those who want to create their own soundtrack for the holiday. Three of the five beautiful bedrooms can be found at the top of the grand oak stairway. On the first floor is the master bedroom, a noteworthy room with a brass framed bed and inspired interior details that you'll want to bring home with you. Bedroom two and three, though both a little smaller, are both superbly furnished; one has views of the priory and the smaller looks out over the gardens. The final two bedrooms are in the attic with reduced head height and can only be reached via the secret stairway! Outside, there is a spacious walled garden for you to enjoy and dine in. At the far end of the garden is a little door set in the wall that leads through to a small bank by the river, a haven that you can have all to yourself.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £300 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

A warm, comfortable and interesting property, in a great central location; great views of Priory..couldn't be closer! Although poor weather stopped us from using the garden, it would be great for a summer stay. Pretty and friendly village, with good choice of places to eat...and a number of independent gift shops.
