Sandy beaches, surfing and clifftop walks await with a stay at this handsome holiday home that boasts gorgeous views of the River Torridge. Located about a mile from the historic port town of Bideford, the property is well suited to large groups and families, making it ideal for a special holiday or celebration. With seven bedrooms for up to 14 people, it offers a spacious retreat with five-star touches throughout. From nights under the stars in the hot tub to cooking up sizzling treats in the all-weather BBQ lodge, there are some fantastic social spaces for getting the whole family together after lazy days on the beach. You can also bring out your competitive edge with pool or table tennis matches in the private games room.

The property is exquisitely decorated, with each room having its own contemporary style. There are two lounge areas, the largest of which has Sky TV, a Nintendo Wii games console and an adjoining conservatory with views of the nearby river. You’ll have all the equipment you need to prepare a special feast in the double range-style oven. Either eat together in the sleek and bright kitchen or dine alfresco on the raised decked area. Then jump in the private hot tub and get someone to pour you a glass of fizz for the ultimate in relaxation. Each bedroom has individual style, and the downstairs double room is ideal for those who don’t want to climb stairs, with en-suite facilities and French doors leading out to the garden. The remaining six bedrooms, found on the first floor of the property, all have their own TV. Outside, the enclosed garden is great for children and dogs to bound around in. And with a car port, as well as ample off-road parking, the drivers in your party can enjoy a hassle-free stay.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A pleasant walk along the riverside takes you to Bideford town centre, where you might like to buy gifts from the pannier market or pat the statue of Tarka the Otter on the quayside. The town is situated on the famous Tarka Trail, which passes through stunning wildlife-rich countryside. For some traditional seaside fun, head to Instow Beach, 2.5 miles from the property, which has a large expanse of golden sand to play or sunbathe on. From Instow, you can also take the ferry across to the delightful fishing village of Appledore. Westward Ho! is around 4 miles away, with its traditional seaside entertainment, while The Big Sheep, also 4 miles from the property, has live sheep racing and thrilling rides for children.

Great spacious house for a big group in a good location. House was clean and well equipped. I had previously spoken to owner regarding some advice on where to eat and he was very helpful. Ate in the Westleigh which was really good food. Kitchen is huge and a good entertaining space.

11 of us spent a week at Christmas which included 4 teenagers, 1 child and 4 adults and 2 oldies. Every one of us enjoyed ourselves very much and wouldn't hesitate to return and would certainly recommend it to others. Anchor House is a lovely, spacious house and is well set up for large groups. The rooms are all a good size (apart from the kitchen which is enormous!!). Lovely large house in a brilliant location very close to the Tarka trail. Traffic a bit noisy as the garden backs on to a busy road, but an excellent place for large family group. We were a party of 13, ages ranging from 2 to 70 and we had a great time.

This property is large and spacious. Really super as noise from large numbers is unnoticed. Games room was excellent for older teenagers in party. Tub was a relaxing element. Fenced off garden was great for little ones playing.

We had a wonderful week celebrating a 60th birthday. The house is extremely spacious and well equipped. Despite its size the house was warm and comfortable with plentiful hot water. We made good use of the hot tub, indoor bbq lodge and games room. Convenient location on tarka trail with enjoyable walks to Instow and Bideford. We also hired bikes.

The house was fabulous! The owner- Neil, was so accommodating when we asked for extra bits that we needed for our group and so friendly. The house was huge, bigger than we thought and everything about it was just amazing, perfect for a family gathering party as we had there. This house was amazing. Everything, and I mean everything you could ever need in the kitchen, there was so much room throughout the house that you would never feel you were crowded. The Tarka trail is within 50 metres, so joy for the dogs. Lovely Christmas tree and table decs made it seem immediately homely. Could not rate this highly enough.

This was a lovely big house ideally suited for a large family group with excellent facilities to make any stay enjoyable. Conservatory area got a bit hot (blinds were on the wrong side!) and the mattresses were a bit unforgiving but,other than that, it would be hard to criticise it. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and the owners were great.

This house is absolutely huge. It has virtually everything you could possible want. Everything was spotless when we arrived and there was no chasing around trying to find where the keys are like weve had in foreign properties. Unfortunately the holiday came to an end far too quickly, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was the perfect place for my 65th. Our ages ranged from 7 to 67. We all found everything we needed in the property I think the owners have thought of it all and more. Just sad to have to leave. It was beautiful x
