Set in the heart of the Lake District, this elegant home has been transformed into a stylish and spacious venue for memorable getaways.

Lose yourself in the tranquil setting of the Lake District by staying at its heart in this dreamy cottage. Romantic interiors, historic architecture and cosiness from top-to-toe ensure all gatherings that happen here are happy and wholesome ones. Set on a grand estate near the north-east shores of Coniston Water, there are a host of scenic walks from the doorstep, or you can take a stroll into the nearby village to enjoy an evening at one of the charming pubs where they serve locally brewed ale.

Steeped in history, the house dates back to 1547 when it was built by the monks of Furness Abbey. The character of this house still thrives thanks to its original structure and clear Victorian influence. The presence of an interior designer is evident in the considered blend of old and new details. Every room has a unique ambience, for example, the sitting room is bookended by wood burners, each surrounded by plush seating areas for you to curl up in. Step down from here into the dining room, featuring a rustic fireplace and grand table made for hosting lively soirees. Also on the ground floor is a large kitchen, which boasts underfloor heating and plenty of worktop space for preparing meals on. Upstairs promises beautiful rooms too, starting with the four double bedrooms; three have pretty en-suites but there is one even more Insta-worthy than the rest. To the right of the regal bed, is a free-standing copper bath beckoning you to indulge in a long soothing soak beneath the bubbles. There is also a twin room and two bedrooms with bunk beds for the children or the child in you. At the front of the house is a vast lawn lined by a stone wall and plants, a pretty place for a picnic or BBQ with a view of the Coniston mountain range peeking through the trees. Guests are welcome to use the private lakeshore of the Tent Lodge Estate which can be accessed by a pedestrian path.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £300 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

This is a nice property and well-located for the Coniston area which is lovely with lots to do. The access to the lake is a short walk, but it's very pretty once there. Do be aware though that the house is on the road and the garden is currently not secure for children or dogs. Also note that the house is in a group of holiday properties and semi-dRead moreetached on both sides, so not entirely private, though this was not a problem for us. Understanding these points you will enjoy a stay there. Hide

The cottage is overpriced, in need of redecoration and TLC and not suitable for small children because of the large number of steep winding stairs. It does have a beautiful situation but is disappointing internally.

This is a great property in a fantastic location. Couldnt fault its position, in walking distance of coniston and located right on numerous walking and mountain bike trails. We could bike to grizedale in 10 mins. The private jetty is out of this world and it was lovely to have the opportunity to experience the lake in our own private idyll. The houRead morese is comfortable and has everything you need. It always felt warm and inviting - all our party (from 5 to 87) enjoyed their stay. We will be back! Hide

Lovely house in a great location. Comfortable bedrooms and a stylish sitting room. Views of the Old Man of Coniston. But it is not a warm house, with storage heaters rather than full central heating. We had cold weather and various of the heaters and underfloor heating were broken. Some were fixed later in the week. Potential renters should be awarRead moree that there is no downstairs loo or washbasin and that the lakeside area, which is lovely , is a five minute walk from the house, across the road. Hide

Beautiful, characterful cottage but not ready for visitors, despite a 3 month lockdown. We were the first visitors in April 2021, on a 4 night stay. No information, two bedrooms were locked on our arrival, two of the ensuites were faulty, the WIFI did not work and the dining room was out of action due to a recent revarnishing that was still wet. NoRead moret ideal, with 6 teenagers in our party. Some of the issues were resolved during our stay, after numerous calls, but overall, very poorly managed. Hide

We had a fantastic few days in the cottage! Stunning house, excellent location well situated for hikes. We could walk into Coniston in 20mins and easily drive to Grasmere, Ambleside and Windermere in 30 mins. We had a couple of questions while there and the owner responded immediately. Will definitely be back!

We spent time here as a replacement for the one we had chosen as this has Wi-fi issues and we were moved at short notice. Having seen the photos we were looking forward to it but were underwhelmed on arrival. The kitchen is very old fashioned and the furniture in the rooms has a feel of a collection from auction rooms. Door rarely close well. The dRead moreescription implies the lake is across the road. It is but then across two more boggy fields. At 4000 in peak season and 2500 off peak not good value Hide

This is a lovely comfy old property and great fun for small children to explore. It has the potential to be an exceptional property but the management of the property would need to improve. Lightbulbs out, no soap in any of the dispensers, blocked bedroom sink etc. Isnt what you expect to find when you arrive for a family weekend away.
