Follow in the steps of royalty when you step into this impressive 700-year-old castle, which sleeps up to 12 guests. In more recent times, the substantial historic property has been home to the cast and crew of TV drama series Outlander, when they filmed at adjacent Doune Castle, a former medieval stronghold. Luxuriate in the sumptuous splendour of the accommodation here, wander through acres of private parkland and stroll into Doune, less than 0.5 miles away, with its intriguing shops and exceptional restaurants. During your stay, also take the opportunity to explore Stirling, 8.5 miles away, with its own famous castle high up on the rocks.

Discover the abundant character and incredible ambience throughout your private castle, with its exposed beams, stone fireplaces and wood panelling. At ground-floor level, your capacious kitchen/diner extends a warm welcome with its AGA and long table. There is also an atmospheric music room, a boot room and a family shower room at this level. Head up to one first-floor section of the castle to find your impressive drawing and dining rooms, where you can relax and dine together in complete comfort. Take a few steps up to one of your bedrooms and a bathroom; also find an attic bedroom and another bathroom close by. Your other first floor level accommodates your inviting lounge or long room where you can recline in front of the TV. A family bedroom is also located here. Find three more bedrooms, a family bathroom and a shower room in your own private tower. One of these rooms even has a priest hole.   Please be aware of the historic, castle-style stairs throughout the property, which may make the accommodation unsuitable for young or less mobile guests.

Explore the acres of parkland in which your castle is set at your leisure. Sun yourself in your walled garden or amble across the lawns. Private parking is available on site.

What can I say other than wow! If youre looking for a holiday destination for a multi generational family, something which is different and steeped in history than this is for you. Absolutely amazing, we felt very honoured to have stayed in such an historical building with beautiful architecture, eclectic mix of furniture and artwork. The garden isRead more stunning as are the views. Doune and the surrounding areas are beautiful. We enjoyed the walks while the dogs embraced the swimming in the rivers and lochs. We were blessed with wonderful weather too, Scotland at its best . This has been by far our best family holiday yet for all twelve of us and our dogs . The owner was extremely helpful and very friendly nothing was a problem but we were left to enjoy our holiday. Would we recommend, absolutely yes , five star. Hide

My daughters decided a family holiday to coincide with our wedding anniversary would be a good idea. The house provided plenty of room for the 13 of us, not to mention the fun of discovering hidden passages. The location provides plenty of things to discover and is not to far from Stirlng. A visit to the Burrel collection in Glasgow was easily achiRead moreeved, as was a walk up a Munroe and trips to the lochs for a steam boat ride and day with the inflatable dinghies. The only downside was the price. Hide
