Discover the incredible North Devon coast from this contemporary haven in Ilfracombe. This is a great destination for large groups as there is something and somewhere for everyone to enjoy. A recently refurbed Regency house, it has retained its magic but received a fantastic fresh look and feel.

Expect high ceilings, spacious rooms and stylish decor from this house by the sea. It's extremely impressive from the moment you enter and step into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Natural light floods the room, which makes it a very special setting for eating, relaxing and just hanging out. The kitchen is well-equipped and thoughtfully designed for large groups by offering two electric ovens so you can cook up an impressive feast; there is also an American-style fridge/freezer and wine cooler for storing all the important things. Guests are sure to find the utility room handy after beach or hiking days, and it has both a washing machine and tumble dryer. With full bellies, you can retire to the comfy sofas for the evening and set up for a film night or even get out a board game to flex your competitive side. If you're looking for some quiet downtime away from the group, escape to the snug, ideal for little ones who can dip into the box of games and puzzles. There is a dedicated leisure floor, where you will find a cinema room with plush sofas and a large screen, and adjoining this is a games room. This property is based in Ilfracombe, close to shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a famous piece of Damien Hirst's artwork, Verity. There are plenty of day trips you should think about adding to your agenda while you're here, including Woolacombe Beach which is just 7 miles away - a vast stretch of golden sands and an excellent place to surf or SUP. If you continue west around the coast, you'll find a series of beautiful beaches that include Croyde (10 miles) and Saunton (10.5 miles). Keen golfers should check out the famous course at Saunton. To the east of the property is the wild landscape of Exmoor, a stunning national park that has plenty of great walking and cycling routes.

We stayed at St James Place - April 19th 2024 for 2 nights, 10 people as a family get together with ages ranging from 22 - 78. This accommodation catered for everyone, clean and tidy great location to be able to walk to most things. The owner was most helpful and we'd love to go back some day.

Excellent house for multi-generations, we were 6 adults and 5 children and the house was perfect. Plenty of bathrooms and hot water! Kitchen was well equip to be able to cook for 11 as well as the table actually seating 11. Playroom off to the side of the main living area meant children could be close by. Pool table was well used. The house was a delight and we couldn't have wished for more or better. Really nicely placed too, near the harbour with room to park three cars - a rarity in the vicinity. We had a lovely week and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Super property for a large family, close to all amenities, near the fantastic dog friendly very quiet beach at Woolacombe. There were lovely walks, coffee and ice cream shops. We were 8 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs and the house had absolutely everything including a pool table and table football. Ideally positioned with lots of good walks nearby, The Hip and pistol next door do good food and well priced drinks. This is a large house and the games room is a real bonus

Highly recommend this property, 2 families stayed for a week and due to the size of the house and number of bedrooms/bathrooms never felt on top of each other. Games room downstairs was great for the kids and the whole house was spotlessly clean. the house was well equipped for all family needs. Location is perfect for the harbour, restaurants & baRead morers, within easy walking distance of all attractions. I was really impressed with the excellent condition and cleanliness of all the furniture and furnishings. The modern bathrooms were a real treat. The games room, cinema room and sitting room were all well used and big enough to accommodate our whole family on movie nights. Loved it all.

Fantastic holiday home with a friendly host. The roses and bottle of Prosecco was a lovely welcoming gesture. Lots of room for large family gathering so did not get on top of one another. House is very comfortable and well equipped. Brilliant location for exploring surrounding seaside resorts. Second stay and highly recommend this property.

Our stay was brilliant, the house had everything we needed to keep all 11 of us happy and content, it was modern clean and tidy. The location is great to use the house as a base and travel to the near by towns and the Ilfracombe is a pleasant town itself. Owner was friendly and very helpful.

Well set out accommodation for the larger family groups with bedrooms and bathrooms over the first and second floors. The ground floor and lower ground floors give plenty of social, living and gathering spaces. Works very well, and with its central location in Ilfracombe it gives an excellent base for local attractions.

Fabulous house in a great location. Plenty of room for everyone and well equipped. Great having enough bathrooms for all the bedrooms and really good showers. This is a fantastic place to stay we were 2 family's and all had enough space to not be on top of each other. The games room and cinema room were a massive hit with the all the adults. An exceptional centrally-located property close to harbour, beach, theatre and a wide selection of eateries. Our party of nine enjoyed the week immensely and thoroughly recommend Simon's spotless, comfortable house. Simply THE best.
