Beautifully renovated to the highest of standards and commanding a fabulous location within the rolling hills of Northumberland, Milker’s Byre offers top quality accommodation in a super setting. Located on a traditional working farm, High Staward, is perfect for families and friends who enjoy walking, cycling and exploring as well as relaxing in the hot tub under the dark skies of the region. Only a few miles away from the World Heritage Site that is Hadrian’s Wall, guests will be able to visit one of the many historic Roman forts and settlements along the way and tread in the ancient footsteps of Roman Soldiers and warriors. The historic market town of Hexham is a short drive away and offers plenty of activities for families and the pretty village of Corbridge is situated just a few miles further east. Both are perfect for a spot of shopping or indulging in a pleasant dinner or afternoon tea.

Upon going through the front door, you will enter a small cloak room area with hooks and boot rack for those muddy boots and clothes after a day’s exploring. Heading on you will be in awe as you walk into the large lounge/diner which has arched patio doors on two side which are the original entrances. Inside you have a large three seater sofa, along with a comfy five seater corner sofa huddled around a log burner and large wall mounted TV. In addition, there is a wonderful dining table with bench seating ideal for a feast of champions. To the left is the kitchen which is a cook’s dream and everything you need for your stay along with the fantastic addition of an island with bar stools. Through from the lounge is a small snug area with sofa, a great spot to kick back and relax with a good book. Along the end corridor is king room with en suite shower and at the end is another super-king with bath and shower. Onto the first floor we head up the wooden stairs to an open area with pool table and TV, a great place to relax and unwind. On the left are three king rooms all with en suite shower room. Heading along the corridor the right of the pool table is the final the bedrooms, one king with en suite shower room, one super king with en suite bath and shower room.

Outside you will find a designated garden area with seating and BBQ plus your own private hot tub to watch the stars.

The charming village of Allendale is only 3.5 miles away and is at the heart of the Allen Valley where you can expect some delightful walking and cycling trails, with rivers and woods leading to open moorland. Alston (13 miles) is England’s highest market town and is also home to excellent walks, including Cross Fell, which is the highest English hill outside of the Lake District. Further afield, you can visit Britain’s biggest waterfall High Force in Upper Teesdale (24.5 miles) for some amazing views and photographs. Perhaps the biggest attraction nearby is the incredible Roman feat that is Hadrian’s Wall which can be accessed within less than 10 miles. For more adventurous types who don’t mind a drive, check out Kielder Water and Forest Park (40 miles) for plenty of outdoor fun.

Absolutely perfect. 7 generous en-suite bathrooms. Hot tub was great. Owner could not do enough for us. Great takeaways and pub grub nearby. The perfect relaxing week during these strange Covid times.
