Head off the beaten track for a break with friends or family, this welcoming holiday home is the perfect setting for a holiday that can be as laid-back or busy as you want. Enjoy walks and cycle rides from your doorstep, explore the North York Moors National Park, take a ride on the Esk Valley Railway or stay close to home and simply stroll through the beautiful local village of Leaholm – an ancient crossing point on the River Esk, its 18th-century coaching inn comes highly recommended. For a change of pace, how about a day at the seaside? Popular Whitby is within 10 miles and has a beautiful beach, cobbled streets, historic sites, a bustling harbour and shops, bars and restaurants to suit every taste.

Farmhouse styling flows through this traditionally furnished holiday home, and starts the moment you step up into the large utility room where there’s plenty of storage, space for shoes, boots and coats, and the fixtures include a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. Similar in look and feel, the large L-shaped kitchen/diner feature beams to the ceiling and dual aspect windows to let in lots of light. A cloakroom adds convenience to the ground floor layout, while in the lounge the emphasis is on comfort, with a choice of sofas, a wood burner and a Smart TV. On the first floor, you’ll find natural-toned wooden floors and furniture in each of the four bedrooms, all of which have their own TV too. The first has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, the second has a double bed and en-suite shower room, and the other two bedrooms each have twin beds. A family bathroom is on this floor, while modern radiators and towel rails keep all the upstairs rooms warm and cosy.

A large walled garden complements the countryside beyond while, closer to the house, there’s a large patio area with furniture and a BBQ provided.

Hole in the Ellers is a lovely, clean, comfortable, well-equipped, spacious farmhouse with wonderful views over Eskdale. The owners were very helpful, even bringing their own microwave down when ours was on the blink, bless them. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and the grandkids had fantastic fun in the enclosed garden among the farmer's fieldRead mores. Just sitting out on the patio looking across the dale was so relaxing! I'm pretty sure we'll be back. It IS at the end of a very long, ribbed concrete farm track which was a bit of a surprise, but by the end of the week everyone had got used to it and we quite enjoyed counting the panicked rabbits as we rattled through to the large car parking area next to the house. This is set in such a quiet location. You are truly at one with nature. There's a lot of room in and out. Everything works and the owners are helpful, friendly and never intrusive.

Overall the farmhouse served it purpose for our of 7. The outside space is generous & the views are really enjoyable. My party did notice the number of flys - flying around the lounge area. The leather sofas in the lounge were very soft , numerous marked & felt uncomfortable. Members of my party complained that it gave them a back ache when theRead morey stood up. The pillows in the bedrooms were very flat & soft. No firmness or comfort too them what so ever. The cushions & carpet in the lounge could do with a proper deep clean. They just felt dirty & unclean.
