Historic Mortehoe is home to pretty cottages, a 13th-century church, a museum and welcoming pubs all surrounded by wonderful scenery. Take a walk on Morte Point and you might spot Atlantic grey seals basking on the rocks. To the north, at Rockham Bay, you’ll find a small, secluded beach with rock pools and plenty of sand to play on at low tide. South of the headland is the three-mile beach at Woolacombe (2 miles), its golden sands a safe place for sandcastles, swimming, surfing and sunbathing, while the village at its edge has shops, cafes and restaurants to satisfy every appetite. Drive less than 6 miles to reach the culinary and cultural delights of Ilfracombe and discover the famous Tunnels Beaches that turned this small fishing village into a favourite Victorian seaside resort. Alternatively, a 14-mile drive will take you to Barnstaple, the largest town in North Devon with a historic Pannier Market, a host of independent stores and the site of a 12th-century castle.

Enjoy far-reaching coast and countryside views from this detached house on the hillside above Mortehoe. The accommodation here is arranged as apartments on each of the three floors, meaning 12 people can enjoy time together and apart: perfect for a large group of friends or family. On the ground floor, there is a lovely open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where everyone can gather. Complete with a wood burner and comfortable seating, this room has amazing views and doors onto one of the two patios. There are three bedrooms on this floor – one with a king-size bed and en-suite shower room, one with a bed that can be made up as a super-king-size or twins, and one with a single bed along with a pull-out single – plus a bathroom and separate cloakroom. The first floor has a lounge/diner and adjoining kitchen, plus two bedrooms – one with a king-size bed, the other with a double plus a fold-away bed that might be suitable for children – as well as a bathroom and cloakroom. You’ll find a further lounge/kitchen/diner on the second floor, alongside a bedroom with a super-king-size bed, and a bathroom. All the easy-living essentials are featured in each kitchen, and there’s a separate laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer for guest use.

Terraced hillside gardens to the side of the house include a raised patio area, while on the ground floor level there’s a large main patio offering somewhere to eat, drink and enjoy the spectacular coastal views.

Hill Crest was a lovely house with beautiful views. The property was spacious and very comfortable. There was everything we needed at the property. As we were a large family the three levels meant we did not feel on top of each other. The village shop mainly catered for holiday makers passing through so did not have any essential items as it prRead moreeviously had sold. Hide
