Located in stunning Suffolk countryside, in the rural village of Sotherton, sits this detached five-bedroom farmhouse. The tranquil setting is ideal for a gathering of friends or a family reunion. Four miles from Sotherton is the market town of Halesworth. Halesworth is a pretty place for a stroll with its pedestrianised centre, independent shops, and fine restaurants. There’s also a park, a bowling green, and an 18-hole golf course. The coast is also within easy reach, and just 6 miles from the property is Southwold. This popular seaside town is a good place for a swim and features a lovely beach, pier, working lighthouse, and busy harbour.

Grand in size, the property has plenty of space and everything you could want to keep guests of all ages entertained. The ground floor decor is all easy comfort with vaulted and beamed ceilings and white tones creating a soothing atmosphere. The open-plan living area is a light-filled space with large sofas in the lounge that invite you to sit and unwind in front of the TV. The lounge flows into an elegant dining area with a table seating 10 people and huge windows that offer up glorious countryside views. From the living area stairs sweep up to a fantastic mezzanine floor where you can enjoy a game of pool. The separate kitchen is a delightful space with everything you’ll need to prepare delicious meals. Serve casual meals at the breakfast counter or for more sociable dining there’s a six-seater table. The snug room is the ideal place to snooze in an armchair in front of the wood burner. There’s also a convenient bathroom on this floor. From the kitchen, stairs lead to the first-floor landing adorned with fitted wardrobes and shelves. Three bedrooms are located off from the hallway - two king-size and one twin, which has a steep, narrow staircase to the ground floor. The bedrooms offer views of the treetops and garden and the twin bedroom has an en-suite WC. There’s also a shower room and separate family bathroom with a charming roll-top bath on this floor. Stairs sweep up to the second floor and the remaining bedrooms: a double and a twin. Both rooms are situated under the eaves and are interlinked by a door.

The outside area is a fantastic space, with a large lawn and patio where you can sit on the garden furniture and soak up the countryside views. When you’re in the mood to eat, light the BBQ and gather everyone together for an al fresco meal. There’s even a fire pit to keep things cosy when the light starts to fade. An outbuilding features plenty of entertainment; while away the hours playing table tennis, darts, and listening to some music.

Lovely house, three generations came for a special family birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed watching the pheasants and occasional rabbit along with lots of conker collecting by the children. Very peaceful surroundings and we enjoyed the table tennis plus a few family board games. We enjoyed crabbing at Walberswick but were noRead moret equipped so didn't catch much until a friendly person gave us some raw bacon for bait. Also visited Southwold on a couple of days. The children loved dodging the waves and we all liked the tasty fish and chips! For shopping we found it easiest to drive to the big Tesco at Beccles. All in all a lovely family stay, making memories across three generations - a wonderful stay - thank you! Hide

Quirky and pleasant. Lovely Suffolk countryside - great cycling and walking. We enjoyed so many places: Sutton Hoo, Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich, Halesworth, Beccles. Food great at Queens Head, Blyford, Sole Bay Fish, Black Dock Deli, Two Magpies Bakery. We saw two moles, a green woodpecker, and a buzzard. Unmissable.

This is a great property for family reunions or groups of friends with children. It is very large, meaning everyone can spread out. The games room with table tennis table and darts was excellent. There is a huge lawn area good for children to play on. We had an excellent time at Beccles Lido then we walked to Locks Inn at Geldeston and got the BigRead more Dog Ferry back. The older kids enjoyed carting at Ellough Park. Hide
