Built on a steep hill and bounded by water on three sides, Polruan’s headland position once made it an important lookout point. Today the village’s views of the coast and across the harbour to Fowey continue to command attention from visitors who love both its peaceful location and proximity to all that makes this part of Cornwall’s south coast so special. There’s only one road into the village; heading past 8th-century St Saviour’s Ruin and it leads to a historic quay that evokes Polruan’s fishing and boatbuilding heritage. A ferry crosses the water to Fowey, a medieval market town that’s a maze of narrow lanes and home to Cornwall’s smallest castle, St Catherine’s, along with a selection of interesting shops, bars and restaurants to suit every taste. Alternatively, follow the South West Coast Path a mile east and you’ll reach Lantic Bay – crystal-clear water and a seldom-busy beach make this a great spot for paddling and picnics. There are more natural wonders at the renowned Eden Project near St Blazey, 13 miles away, and 3 miles further is Charlestown, famous for its tall ships and synonymous with the TV series Poldark.

Breathtaking views abound at this four-bedroom holiday home, where generous garden and interior spaces offer plenty of opportunities for friends and family to spend time together. The property’s been designed to take full advantage of its position on the seaward edge of the village, and nowhere is this more evident than the lounge, where a huge picture window floods the room with light and looks across the lawn to the coastline beyond. If you can tear yourself away from the view, a selection of sofas are the setting for companionable evenings in front of the TV, while an ornamental stone fireplace and wood flooring complement the calm colour scheme. The traditional styling continues in the large kitchen/diner, where every cook’s needs are catered for and there’s space to work, chat and dine in comfort. Windows with garden views shed light on all that goes on here. A utility room and cloakroom complete the list of ground-floor essentials, and for those who’d prefer not to climb stairs, there’s a twin bedroom and beautifully-tiled shower room on this level too. On the first floor, an impressive family bathroom serve the double and twin bedroom, while in the main bedroom, there’s a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room.

The garden here is laid to lawn and features a large patio area complete with outdoor furniture and a brick-built BBQ. Enjoy breakfast alfresco, sundowners at the end of a busy day, or simply watch for boats passing by… the view of the sea and coastline is totally unspoilt!

The views of the Atlantic from the living room and 2 main bedrooms are amazing. We sat and watched the boats and yachts every day. It was very comfortable and had everything you could want or need from a holiday home. We visited Looe on a number of occasions and found walkways we didn't know existed from previous holidays, one by the coast overRead morelooking Looe Island. Polperro is also well worth a visit. You have to park outside and walk into the village as it's too small for traffic. Overall a lovely house and we would definitely consider rebooking. Hide

The price has increased by 25% compared to last year and the electric bathroom radiators have been switched off. I note the price has increased again for 2023 - will the bathroom radiators be turned on?
