Set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this stone-built holiday cottage in Boat of Garten is a peaceful base for friends and family keen to explore the Scottish Highlands. Known as the ‘Osprey Village’, the area is surrounded by beautiful countryside and wildlife. Golfers can also head to Boat of Garten Golf Club for a round amid the Highland scenery. Animal lovers should make the 2.5-mile trip to RSPB Loch Garten Nature Reserve, where woodland walks provide opportunities to spot ospreys and red squirrels. Alternatively, board the Strathspey Railway (6 miles) for a heritage steam train journey through the Cairngorms, between Boat of Garten and Aviemore (4.5 miles). There’s also plenty to discover around Rothiemurchus Estate (7.5 miles), where activities include wildlife watching, pony trekking and fishing. For a day beside the water, head to Loch Morlich (11 miles) where you’ll find a freshwater beach, water sports and wooded walks.
Inside, enter the hallway and you'll find the welcoming lounge to the right, furnished with two sofas and an armchair alongside a wood burner and Smart TV for cosy evenings. To the left, a bright and airy bunk bedroom is sure to appeal to younger guests. The dining room leads through to a well-equipped kitchen, ready for everything from quick breakfasts to family suppers. Also on the ground floor is a comfortable, welcoming double bedroom and direct access to the garden, while a utility room and cloakroom complete this level. Upstairs, two further bedrooms sit beneath the cottage’s sloping eaves, one a twin and the other a double. A family bathroom with a bath and separate shower cubicle completes the first floor.
Outside, the enclosed garden is made for family time, with a huge lawn where children can play and a patio furnished with seating for outdoor meals and morning coffees. There’s also a charcoal BBQ for summer gatherings. Driveway parking for three cars ensures you can come and go with ease throughout your stay.
