Set at the gateway to the Elan Valley, this lovingly converted four-bedroom property is made up of two barns, the original character of the buildings has been retained while creating a comfortable, sociable space for family and friends to gather. Rhayader is approximately half a mile away, with independent shops, restaurants, pubs and an award-winning coffee shop. The Elan Valley is on your doorstep, with its reservoirs, dams and hundreds of acres of open hills to explore – the Elan Valley visitor centre is around 2 miles away. The area is abundant with wildlife: Red kites pine martens, otters, weasels, roe deer and Welsh mountain hill ponies. At the Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Centre (1.5 miles), hundreds of hungry wild birds swoop down each day, while at Valley View Falconry (1.5 miles) you can meet hawks and owls. Gilfach Nature Reserve (3 miles) encompasses meadows, oak woodland, moorland, and wildlife-rich river habitats.

The property is designed for gathering, with a family kitchen and dining area that offers plenty of space to cook and eat together. The kitchen opens into a bright summer room with stunning views, while the spacious living room features a vaulted ceiling, oak beams and an impressive fireplace with a wood burner. Doors lead out to the patio and enclosed garden, making it easy to move between both. On the same level you will find ‘The Cow Cwtch’ where cows used to come in to shade from the sun, snow or rain. It has been given a new life as a relaxed social space to play games, do a jigsaw or challenge each other at the table football, for a fun evening together. There is additional cosy snug room for those wishing to retreat for a quiet read or relax. Upstairs there are four bedrooms: two king-size, one double, and a twin, sleeping up to eight guests. One of the king-size bedrooms has an en-suite shower room, and there’s also a family bathroom and a separate WC.

Outside the garden space has a large patio area and a decked area with outdoor dining furniture and a BBQ. It’s the perfect spot for a long lunch or evening meal taking in the wonderful views. Guests can relax in the private sauna and brave the cold plunge! Don’t forget about the Dark Skies after the sun goes down – it really is as much a part of the experience as your days spent exploring. Private parking is available for four cars.
