This spacious four-bedroom former dairy sleeps up to eight guests and is set on the banks of the River Dyfi, on the southern edge of Snowdonia National Park (Eryri). Surrounded by rolling countryside and far-reaching valley views, it offers a wonderful rural escape for families and friends, as well as their dog, who enjoy walking, cycling and exploring the great outdoors. The setting is peaceful and scenic, with swallows returning each year and often seen gliding across the skies in the warmer months, adding to the charm and character of this countryside retreat.

The location is ideally located for North and Mid Wales perfect for discovering both mountains and coast, with the historic market town of Machynlleth just 9 miles away, offering independent shops, eateries, and cultural highlights including the Museum of Modern Art and Owain Glyndŵr's Parliament House. Dolgellau is 14 miles away and is known as the starting point for those looking to climb Cader Idris, while the picturesque Mawddach Trail provides a more leisurely option, following a disused railway line along the estuary to Barmouth. The property also sits within the wider Mach Loop area, known for occasional military training flights passing through the valley, which many visitors find an interesting sight. For those drawn to the coast, the beaches at Fairbourne and Barmouth, along with the sand dunes at Ynyslas, are all within easy reach, offering wide open spaces and beautiful sea views. Nature lovers can also visit the Dyfi Wildlife Centre to spot ospreys and other local wildlife.

Approach the property and step inside to find a welcoming and thoughtfully laid-out home. On the ground floor, there is a comfortable master bedroom with a king-size bed and an elegant en-suite shower room. Further along the hallway is a fully equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing meals after a day exploring, while at the rear of the house, the spacious living and dining area makes the most of the stunning views across the Dyfi Valley, creating a relaxing space to gather together.

Upstairs, there are three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The front-facing double bedroom benefits from its own shower room (no WC), while the twin room at the rear enjoys beautiful views across the valley. A third bedroom is ideal for children, with bunk beds, an additional single bed, and a TV with games console to keep younger guests entertained on quieter days.

Outside, the property continues to impress with a large patio area to the rear, complete with seating for enjoying the surrounding scenery from morning through to evening. To the side, a covered BBQ hut and generous picnic table provide the perfect spot for al fresco dining. With outdoor lighting throughout, the garden can be enjoyed long into the evening.

Mark and Catherine, your friendly hosts, live nearby and are on hand to share their local knowledge, ensuring you make the most of your stay. The Dairy forms part of Tyn Rhos Barn but enjoys its own private access and space, giving guests privacy throughout their visit. With the added benefit of a 7.2kW EV charger powered by on-site solar panels, this is a well-equipped and welcoming base for exploring this beautiful part of Wales.

The view from this well planned cottage is spectacular. We were very comfortable and had the excitement of being under the Mach Loop. The garden is well planned with stylish furniture and barbecue. Our family of 7 plus 2 dogs had a lovely time.

We had an enjoyable stay at the cottage, which is set in a lovely, picturesque location in Machynlleth to Cader Idris. The owners were helpful answering our queries promptly. The outdoor BBQ and dining facilities were a real advantage, and fortunately the weather was good enough for us to make full use of them. The mattresses were comfortable, anRead mored the kitchen was a good size with a reasonable standard of facilities. The family bathroom was also a decent size, with a good bath and shower. However, we felt the property was quite cramped for eight adults, particularly in the upstairs bedrooms and the main living area. The bedrooms felt overcrowded with the maximum number of beds in place, leaving little space to move around. Having only one WC upstairs for six adults was also quite difficult at times. The living room was similarly limited in space, especially around the large dining table, leaving minimal space to walk around the.The main living-room rug in particular was looking quite tired and could benefit from being replaced or thoroughly cleaned. The garden was another area where our expectations were different from reality. From the photographs, it appeared considerably larger than it actually was, and we found it to be much smaller than anticipated. Privacy was also quite limited. Much of the fencing separating the cottage from the owners property was below knee height, meaning there was very little separation between the two properties. As the owners live directly next door, we were conscious of the noise we were making throughout our stay. We were not having parties or playing loud music, but nevertheless felt we had to be mindful of normal family conversations and outdoor use because of the proximity of the neighbouring property. The cottage is also very close to the main road and is not particularly set back from it, so there was noticeable traffic noise, particularly when using the outside areas. Overall, the cottage has some good features, particularly the picturesque setting, outdoor facilities, comfortable mattresses and well-equipped kitchen. However, for a group of eight adults, we found the accommodation and bedrooms quite cramped, with limited privacy and more road noise than we had expected from the photographs. We would suggest that the listing photographs give a clearer impression of the actual size of the garden, living areas and bedrooms so that guests can have more realistic expectations before booking.
