Set in the tranquil village of Shorwell, next door to the thirteenth century church and close to the centre of the island, this spacious and sympathetically updated property is an ideal holiday retreat for nature spotters and walkers keen to discover the area’s surrounding countryside, idyllic beaches and thriving resorts. The bustling town of Newport (5 miles) has a wealth of great places to eat and drink and is home to the historic Carisbrooke Castle as well as attractions including Monkey Haven, the Museum of Island History and Butterfly World. Heading to the western coast, The Needles Landmark Attraction (9 miles) is known for its colourful sands and chairlift, which offers stunning views towards the dramatic chalk stacks. Other local attractions include Mottistone Gardens, the Wight Military and Heritage Museum, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Amazon World Zoo Park and Robin Hill Adventure Park, all within 12 miles.

A few steps lead up to the entrance of this enchanting listed cottage, dating from 1750 with numerous period features. A welcoming hallway leads through to a beautifully decorated lounge with ample seating, a Smart TV and a glowing wood burner, offering a peaceful space for everyone to settle back together after a memorable day. Exploring further, the light and stylishly arranged kitchen/diner is full of character, with ample equipment for rustling up a family feast. The ground floor also features a convenient utility room and the first of the property’s four delightful bedrooms: a snug twin which is located a few steps up from the lounge. Heading upstairs, you will find the remaining bedrooms: a twin (with permanent cot and travel cot), a cheerful double and a lovely en-suite king-size room. The accommodation is completed by a refreshing family bathroom. Please note that, due to the cottage’s age and traditional design, some of the first-floor rooms feature charmingly uneven flooring and fairly low ceilings.

Stepping outside, the front garden provides a nice spot for enjoying a morning coffee and taking in the picturesque surrounding views of the church, neighbouring thatched cottage and the family friendly village pub. To the rear of the property, there’s also a private walled patio with further seating, making an ideal location for a BBQ and for dining alfresco. Parking is available for one small/medium car to the side of the cottage or on the road opposite the neighbouring church, subject to availability.
