Discover the blood-curdling legends of Dunvegan Castle (9 miles) and test your nerve in the creepy dungeons. Bag yourself a munro or two with a bracing hike up Macleod's Tables for panoramic views across the island and take a tour of the famous Talisker Distillery (26 miles) and sample some of their wonderful whisky.

Nestled into the hillside and surrounded by open countryside dotted with white-washed crofter's cottages and grazing livestock, your rural retreat sits in a slightly elevated position offering fantastic views across the fields and farmland. Follow the driveway through the gardens and park next to your imposing holiday home. Step through the front door into the spacious entrance hall where there is plenty of space to hang up your coats and leave shoes and walking boots. Leave keys and wallets on the hallway table and head through into your inviting living room. Comfortable sofas invite you to sink into them, put your feet up and relax with a glass of wine in the evening. Play a family board game on the coffee table or light the wood burner and sit and chat late into the evening. For family movie nights, get the popcorn ready and head into the TV room. Gather together in the spacious kitchen/diner that stretches the length of the house, making this perfect for social mealtimes.  Cook up a storm in the stylish contemporary kitchen that comes equipped with everything you could require, including double electric oven and electric hob, fridge, freezer and microwave. To ensure a comfortable stay, a dishwasher and washer/dryer are provided for your convenience. Off the kitchen is a handy utility area and second hallway with more hanging space. The ground-floor bathroom with shower over bath and WC is perfect for freshening up after a beach walk or long tramp across the moor. The Old Manse was a great place to stay. We really liked the house and it was quite spacious, clean, and well kept. We enjoyed walking about the garden. While I have connections to Glendale that made it meaningful for me to stay there, it is in a remote part of the island and extra time will need to accounted for when planning travel to other partsRead more of the island. A beautiful house and location, let down by poor maintenance and in need of a deep clean. Key box is badly corroded and difficult to open, we were stuck outside for an hour trying to get in. No reply from the local contact tel number. Notices of 'do not adjust heating' totally inappropriate on the Isle of Skye in October, we were cold in the house Read morewhen the heating was off all day. Despite this we enjoyed our stay in what could be a five star house with a bit of attention and care. Hide

We stayed in The Old Manse for our wedding week with our closest family. The home was well equipped with washing machine, dish washer and all you could ask for in the kitchen (French press for coffee) as well as plenty of bathrooms/showers. The location was excellent for accessing sights on the northern part of the Isle like Neist Point and The QuiRead moreraing. Dunvegan was close for the general store and lovely restaurants (recommend The Dunvegan Restaurant for a five course menu). Enjoy! Hide
