This haven is perfectly situated for day trips to Orkney (20 miles) by ferry from Gills Bay (1.5 miles), where ancient history and stunning landscapes await. With great accessibility and no stairs, the property's main access is from the car park area where you arrive into a spacious hallway where you can hang up your coats and leave your shoes and boots after a day exploring. This hallway runs the length of the property – to your left is the spacious lounge with a cosy wood burner and a Smart TV, where you can gather to watch a film or enjoy long evening chats about your day or make plans for the next day’s adventures. From the lounge, the spacious main master bedroom with a super-king-size bed can be located, boasting its own en-suite shower room. The main hallway also offers access to the main family bathroom, which is beautifully styled and finished with a bath and a separate shower. The main kitchen and dining area are contemporary and spacious for evening dining or leisurely brunches, with all the contemporary facilities including a coffee machine. The hallway runs through the kitchen dining and leads to two twin bedrooms beautifully styled with luxury touches. To the rear, there is another king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower room, there is also a full-length, window/door which allows for access to the outside decking and sitting area. With views of the coastline and the Island of Stroma, this is a historic cottage beautifully renovated and offers little touches of its heritage and history dotted throughout.

Outside, there is a large garden area and decking has been added to the front with outdoor seating and a hot tub, which can be enjoyed with the opportunity to stargaze with the possibility of experiencing the Aurora whilst enjoying some time in this very relaxing garden area.

Our stay at St Clairs cottage was just perfect and so well equiped and furnished. Plenty to see and do, highlights include The Castle of Mey, short ferry link to Orkneys plus John O Groats all a short drive away plus our highlight was spotting 2 Orcas off Duncansby Head.

If you want peace this is the ideal location. Great cottage with everything you could need and more. We stayed with a dog not clear from pics but there is a large grassy enclosed garden at other side of cottage which is perfect for both kids and dogs. The cottage was cosy, and plenty of space for all. Such a peaceful location at night you could heaRead morer only silence outside an on clear night see thousands of stars. Will definitely rebook if going back to area. Hide
