  • Period town house with fantastic views over the Mill Pond and Pembroke Castle
  • Combines contemporary features with beautiful antique furniture and modern home comforts
  • Just a short stroll into the centre of historic Pembrokeshire and the coast
Property code: OC-85835

The property is situated in central Pembroke, just before the bridge, on a quiet cul-de-sac of a side road, and at the back overlooking the Mill Pond and Pembroke Castle. Pembroke has a popular high street with an array of independent shops, bars and restaurants. If you like history you must visit the castle – the birthplace of Henry VII. The castle overlooks the beautiful Mill Pond where swans and otters live, and towards the sea, boats, canoes can be hired. If you like the coast, Pembroke is a fantastic base to explore the many beautiful South Pembrokeshire beaches on offer. Freshwater East can be reached in under 4 miles or Barafundle Bay is around 5.5 miles away. The coast path itself is just yards from the property, skirting the castle.

As you enter the large Edwardian property you are welcomed into a tiled hallway with convenient space for coats and boots. To the left is the bay-windowed lounge which has two large sectional sofas to sit you comfortably around the Smart TV. Curl up in this cosy lounge in the evenings and stream your favourite movies or television shows after a long day exploring the county. Down the hall you will find an open-plan kitchen/diner with spectacular views over Pembroke Castle and the Mill Pond.  New French windows let light flood into the room, giving a viewpoint for people, swan and otter watching from a comfortable chair. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up a hearty meal for the family. Upstairs on the first floor you will find three bedrooms plus a family bathroom. The first is a king-size bedroom which enjoys views over the Mill Pond, the second has a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) and the third room is a bunk bedroom – perfect for younger guests. All the bedrooms have ample storage for clothes and belongings. The family bathroom has a bath and a separate shower. There is a washing machine in the airing cupboard on the first floor.

The lower floor of the house has been restored as part of the whole house, with a modern oak staircase down from the hallway. This features more living, dining space plus a king-size bedroom tucked away at the back – incredibly quiet and with a shower-room just next door.  There is an open plan living room, den, games room, bar with tiled floor, great for a separate evening area for some of the group, there’s a fridge freezer for drinks and ice and a modern “champagne bar” ready to mix cocktails. The exit door of this area opens out onto an unenclosed area by a popular nearby pub and has access to the Mill Pond where you may catch a glimpse of nature. There are table and chairs for sitting out in the sunshine stored in a box by the window.

This is a townhouse so no garden, but the area by the Mill Pond and pub is private, only the architects use it 9am to 5pm. The “green” is just up the road with a new playground for children further up the hill, as well as all the walks around the town and Mill Pond. There is on-street parking subject to availability and public car parks off the main street.

Great house for 2 generations to stay in, with the basement as a bolthole for the grandparents! Well-equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge. Fabulous views over the Mill Pond. Within easy walking distance of all Pembroke's attractions. We had a great day out at the castle.
