Tucked away in the winding village streets of Aldsworth, this beautifully rustic converted stone chapel offers groups of friends and family an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswolds National Landscape. Dotted with centuries-old stone cottages and surrounded by countryside, Aldsworth offers a step back in time with its cosy village pub and striking Norman church. Nearby, the more bustling town of Burford (5 miles) hosts Upton Smokery, where you can pick up delicious smoked meats and fish to cook with back at home, while Bibury (3.5 miles) is known as one of England’s most picturesque villages. Other classic Cotswolds destinations include Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold (both within 12 miles), both of which boast riverside walking trails, independent boutiques and plenty of traditional tearooms. Keen historians have a choice of National Trust sites nearby, including Lodge Park and Sherborne Park Estate, and the remarkable Chedworth Roman Villa (both within 9 miles).

Before stepping inside this restored chapel, take a moment to appreciate its exterior and the charming original features it retains. Head through the grand front door to discover a one-of-a-kind retreat lovingly renovated to blend heritage with sleek finishes and modern comforts. Kick off walking boots in the hallway then amble through to the impressive social heart of the home, the main body of the former chapel. Here, soaring ceilings, arched features and historic windows offer a unique living space perfect for relaxation; sink into the soft seating, fire up the wood burner and challenge loved ones to a boardgame. Allowing the group to spread out with ease, an additional and equally impressive lounge stands ready with another roaring wood burner and a Smart TV – perfect for cosy movie nights. When stomachs start to rumble, find that the vibrant and well-appointed kitchen boasts everything needed for cooking up holiday feasts, to be enjoyed at the formal dining table in the living space – a separate utility room adds convenience. At the end of each day, head up the open staircase to the first-floor galleried landing where you’ll find a choice of four restful, individually styled bedrooms. Choose from three double bedrooms and a cosy twin, served by a family bathroom with a shower over the bath, and a sleek shower room with a double walk-in shower.

Guests will find plenty of space outdoors to relax, starting with the cute cottage garden to the front of the property with a bistro set provided for peaceful morning coffees. To the rear awaits an enclosed garden with as much character as the rest of the property; enjoy games on the lawn and gather at the outdoor table and chairs for al fresco meals. Guests will also benefit from off-road parking for two cars.

The cottage could have been a little cleaner . Issues we reported to holiday cottages is that the cold tap in the kitchen constantly dripped. The radiator valve in the back bedroom i assume needs replacing as the radiator gets extremely hot and cant be turned down. The spindles on the staircase need a bit of maintenance as one was not attached propRead moreerly Hide

Great cottage, very cool place to stay! Such good entertaining areas and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking at home and loads of toys/books/games to keep ourselves and the kids entertained in rainy weather.
