Retaining many original features, this impressive Grade II-listed property provides the perfect base for a family adventure or getaway with friends. Cowden Pound is a haven for keen walkers and cyclists, surrounded by the unrivalled beauty of the High Weald National Landscape. The barn sits next door to the iconic Queens Arms, a fine example of an unspoilt victorian pub. Owned and ran by the property owners, it is grade II listed and recognised as having an interior of national importance. Royal Tunbridge Wells (10 miles) is well worth a visit, with its selection of independent shops and cafes nestled in the Pantiles area to explore. Dive into hundreds of years of history at some of the many historic houses in the area. Explore the grounds at Hever Castle and Gardens (2.5 miles), the former home of Anne Boleyn. Or visit Chartwell House and Gardens (7.5 miles), the former family home of Churchill. For adventures further afield, the Sussex coast is within 35 miles, London can be reached in under an hour from a nearby train station, and Gatwick is only 17 miles away.

Beneath the red brick exterior, you’ll find a haven of historic charm. A handsome lounge greets you where high ceilings, preserved beams and a roaring wood burner set the scene for relaxation. Stunning exposed brickwork steps lead down into the light-filled kitchen/diner, which perfectly combines charming features including more exposed brick and sloping ceilings, with a sleek and stylish contemporary finish that’ll capture your imagination. On a fine evening, throw open the patio doors to the garden to make the most of indoor/outdoor living. Leading off the dining area, you’ll find a delightful king-size bedroom with ensuite shower room that shares the same homely ambience as the rest of this quirky bolthole. Heading back up the stone steps and through the lounge, you’ll find a further two bedrooms that provide a haven of tranquillity to retire to. There is a peaceful king-size bedroom with stairs up to the en-suite bathroom that boasts a sophisticated free-standing bath and shower cubicle, and a blissful double bedroom with stairs that lead up to the en-suite shower room. Please note that due to the quirky nature of the cottage, there is restricted headspace and low beams in certain areas.

There is a garden which can be enjoyed at all times. For the warmer months, a table and seating alongside a BBQ are provided to enjoy the sun. There is parking for three cars in the pub car park next door, subject to availability.

We stayed this weekend, and everything was just amazing. Its spacious, had everything you need and most of all spotlessly clean. Even the dog was very at home in the well maintained garden. Atmosphere of area and property is one of pure relaxation. The owner is helpful and friendly, the whole experience 10/10

Worst looking house we have stayed in in many a year but one of the best to live in. Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Only thing I would suggest is some carpet or anti slip on the stairs to the ensuite bathrooms. These are steep and maybe not suitable for the elderly or infirm. Great stay. Firmly recommend.

This is a fantastic cottage. Three en-suite double bedrooms made a perfect venue for a family birthday celebration weekend. The cottage is beautifully decorated, very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very warm and cosy. We walked to Hever and also visited the nearby Bluebell railway and Chartwell. It exceeded our expectations, attention to detail was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Cosy, warm and comfortable. An enclosed dog proof garden, even a little hamper with dog bowls and towels. I think the dogs enjoyed the under floor heating as much as we did. The kitchen is very well equipped and I even cooked a full Christmas dinner. TRead morehe dishwasher, full size fridge freezer and washer/dryer made life easier too. Comfortable lounge with a wonderful wood burner. Family games in a cupboard made a lovely change from watching television, but when we did the large screen and all the channels were there to log into (Netflix, Now TV etc) Each bedroom had a comfy bed and ensuite, one has a lovely deep bath. I enjoyed a soak with a glass of wine! Beautiful surroundings and The Queens Arms pub next door was full of history and charm we enjoyed a Christmas day drink with the locals. We have created family memories there to last a lifetime. I can't recommend this place enough for a relaxing holiday. Hide
