Set on the southern edge of the St Agnes Heritage Coast, up to eight friends or family members will find a piece of Cornish paradise here. Wide Porthtowan Beach is just 600 metres away – walk 1.5 miles along the Southwest Coast Path to the dramatic Wheal Coates Tin Mine (3 miles). Spot seals and skylarks at Mutton Cove and Godrevy Lighthouse (11 miles); it’s a great place for a picnic. Explore the wide sands and independent shops, pubs and eateries of Hayle (15 miles), and wander the quaint, cobbled lanes of St Ives (20 miles), home to Tate St Ives art gallery. Surf, kayak and SUP around this exquisite coastline, or from Newquay’s myriad beaches (15 miles).

The property is approached via an unmade road. Inside you’ll find reverse-level property and a spacious ground floor that’s flooded with light on bright days. Even in chilly weather, the underfloor heating and wood burner will keep you cosy. On hot days, open the living room’s double set of bifold doors. The hall is a superb space and the ground-floor lounge has some wonderful views, with two lovely, large sofas from which to enjoy them. There are three ground-floor bedrooms: one super-king-size with an en-suite shower room and two twins. The ground-floor bathroom boasts a wonderful, free-standing, roll-top bath. The first floor is a wide, open-plan space with a lounge/kitchen/diner. The kitchen has a large island and the lounge has a wide door that opens to create a balcony space. The super-king-size main bedroom has a wonderful round window looking out over the coastline and ocean, a chaise longue to watch it from and an en-suite bathroom with free-standing roll-top bath and skylight.

Outside there are two patio areas, accessed from the ground and the first floor, with garden furniture and a gas BBQ. The gorgeous lawn is not enclosed. There’s an outside shower for washing away sand.

Tonga House has a amazing location with some incredible views of Porthtowan and the coastline. Access to the coastal path is great for walks to St Agnes. The house is spacious and was very warm for February! We loved sitting by the round window in the master bedroom on the chaise longue. The outside shower was brilliant after a swim in the cold winRead moreter sea. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We did find a lack of hanging space for wet gear and our wetsuits. The lighting in the kitchen space needs improving. Overall, we had a wonderful stay for my 60th birthday. Hide

The property was excellent in a truly stunning location. Like all popular rental properties - they eventually need a bit of a refurb / maintenance and arguably some better quality outdoor furniture - which is the only reason we did not score the property as 5s all round. We would definitely book this property again and if a bit of maintenance coulRead mored be achieved this property will remain a real gem.
