This handsome country house is ideal for a large family or group of friends to get together for a relaxing holiday. Set in three acres of grounds and backed by the river Dyfi it is in a tranquil and private location. The house is around 300 metres from the small rural village of Cemaes with its local pub, village shop and café. For a little more choice head to the market town of Machynlleth 7 miles away and visit the Alternative Energy Centre along with an interesting mix of shops and restaurants. The sandy bays of Aberdyfi and Ynys Las are around 19 miles away, and both offer opportunities for swimming and a mix of water sports. Visitors can enjoy sailing, canoeing, boat trips and more. Mountain biking is a popular pass time in the area with its dramatic scenery and some challenging trails. Dyfi Forest Bike Park is 8 miles away and has some beautiful scenery to discover. Likewise, the hiking here is wonderful with trails starting from within a mile of the property and leading you through forests and over hilltops. If you’re partial to fishing then the Dyfi River running through the grounds has great salmon and sea trout stock. You can obtain a license at the post office and a permit at Mr News in Machynlleth.

The spacious house is generously proportioned throughout with high ceilings and windows looking out over the pretty grounds and the surrounding countryside. Downstairs is an ample living room with comfortable sofas, a wood burner and French doors opening to the garden. The large kitchen is modern and sleek, with all you need to prepare big family feasts. There’s a small breakfast table in the kitchen, as well as access to a pantry and utility area and French doors to the garden. The separate dining room has a decorative fireplace, a traditional Welsh dresser and a large wooden table for the whole group to gather around. The games room is a wonderful extra space where guests can enjoy a game of pool or choose something to read from the bookshelf. Upstairs the bright and spacious bedrooms lead off of a wide landing with a sofa and garden views. The master bedroom is a family room with one double bed and two single beds. There are then three double bedrooms and a further family suite with two double beds and a washbasin. Three ample bathrooms complete the accommodation. These are two modern shower rooms and one vintage-style bathroom with a bath.

The extensive outside space is a wonderful feature of this country house. There’s a sweeping driveway and three acres of landscaped gardens. Beautiful countryside surrounds this and the garden is bounded on one side by the sparkling River Dyfi. The covered front balcony is set with garden chairs and there are lots of gorgeous areas for picnicking and games around the grounds.

Aberhiriaeth hall was amazing, just quite a drive to get to things to do, however there is a cute town not too far away and the house is equipped with everything you need. By the end of the stay we actually enjoyed more time in the house than travelling out
