Property code: OC-BOW259

This cosy, sleeps-eight house on a working farm boasts lots of relaxing spots and excellent views over fields to Cadair Idris mountain. It's a tranquil haven for family or group getaways with no immediate neighbours - just pure countryside surroundings, which you can enjoy with up to two dogs. Despite its luxuriously secluded feel, the property is only one mile from the seaside town of Barmouth, where you can walk over the panoramic-view bridge or, if you’re visiting during the peak holiday season, catch the charming steam train over the bridge. Spend time on Blue Flag-awarded Barmouth Beach, stroll the promenade with an ice cream in hand and relish group dinners at the pubs or restaurants. Fancy a day trip with the kids? Ride the ferry from Barmouth to the seaside village of Fairbourne, where they can play in the amusements.

Return to your cosy farmhouse, where the decor is bright and delightfully unfussy. Settle down in the lounge on the comfy sofa by the wood burner or in the cushion-strewn bay window that frames lovely green views. Prepare dinner for all in the kitchen that boasts an AGA, a stools-included breakfast bar and trendy pendant lights. There’s also a utility area with handy additional worktop space. Tuck in at the four-seater dining table beside a log burner; the room also features another cushioned bay window for more guests, where you can take in the vast views. If you need to work or even just relish some quiet time, take yourself to the office where there is a workspace with a table and chairs plus additional soft seating. The ground floor is complete with a shower room featuring a WC. Climb the handcrafted, wooden spiral staircase (which may not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties) to the first floor, where there’s a master bedroom that can be arranged to your choice thanks to the zip-and-link beds, either as a king-size or twin room. Enjoy the luxury of an en-suite with a shower over a bath. There’s another room with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as either king-size or two singles, plus an en-suite shower room. The final first-floor bedroom has two single beds. You’ll never be short of space as this floor boasts two more shower rooms with WCs, as well as a bathroom (accessed via steps) with a bath that has a big window beside it so you can soak as you look at the sky and swaying trees. Pass through the landing to the studio lounge, which is one of the many house highlights with its comfy seating, cosy log burner and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Cadair Idris and the surrounding mountains so you can enjoy the countryside whatever the weather. Slide open the doors to the garden to enjoy the fresh, rural air from the comfort of your sofas. Climb up the wooden spiral staircase to the second floor, where you’ll find the final bedroom, a king or twin depending on the zip-and-link bed arrangement, with windows showcasing those excellent countryside views.

Make the most of the holiday home’s surrounding countryside by relaxing across the three outdoor patio areas with garden furniture, so you can sit, enjoy the tranquil setting, and unwind.

The cottage was very clean, it was lovely to have a welcome pack with basics, bread, milk etc when we arrived. The cottage did lack some basics, there weren't many cleaning products, only one tea towel and dish cloth There were 6 adults in total and it was a shame that there wasn't enough comfortable seating for us all to sit together in the eveniRead moreng Hide

The setting was lovely but no-one mentioned the accessibility to the property. We have an estate car and had a bike rack and had to take the bike rack off to get to the property. This should be mentioned in the property information. The cleanliness was not particularly good and a mice nest was found in one of the bed drawers. The property manager wRead moreas elusive and didn't get back to us quickly at all. A bag of rubbish was left at the property after the clean although the manager didn't seem to believe us, she said her cleaners had taken photos after they cleaned and there was no sign of a rubbish bag. Toe nail cuttings were found on the floor too. The outdoor furniture was broken and the BBQ not big enough for 8 people. Although the house was nice it was in poor decorative order, damp patches on walls and lots of screw holes where pictures or shelves had been removed in most rooms. It did lack some homely pictures, the walls were very bare. The garden needed some attention with weeds and overgrown shrubs. We did enjoy the holiday despite this but overall the property was disappointing and not up to our usual standard. Hide

The property was excellent for large family group - and plenty of space. Kitchen equipment was more than adequate. Lovely walks and beautiful beach walking distance from the house. We had a wonderful stay thank you.

Overall we were very happy with the property. The pictures do not do it justice it was stunning as well as the beautiful scenery that the cottage sits in. The walk is quite tough going to and from Barmouth itself as up a steep hill but it was so peaceful it was well worth the exercise. I did feel that although the property can hold 8 people veryRead more comfortably the glasses provided were not enough - we had about 4 wine glasses, 5 tumblers and 6 larger glasses. I felt that there should have been 8 of every one as well as 8 champagne flutes (none were provided). Although there were log burners and some logs were provided I thought the host should be including fire lighters as well as kindling as it was impossible to get them lit and we really wanted them on. Also I expected toilet rolls to be provided in every toilet but they were not so people staying here definitely need to bring their own. I would suggest anyone staying here bring literally everything they want from home include hairdryers as only 2 bedrooms has these provided and not all 4 bedrooms. Cleanliness was just about ok but we hoovered and got rid of some heavy duty spider webs high up in the TV room. Overall the property was so comfortable and beautiful and we loved how the new extension blended with the older part. The host did not provide any basic essentials on arrival. I know that this should not be expected but it would have been a nice touch. Anyone considering this property needs to make sure to pack their basic groceries but there is a decent Co-op in the town itself. Hide

The house was in a really nice location however there were a few things that we found it lacked for comfort . Just some basic things like there were no tea towels, the 2 en-suite bathroom doors did not shut properly and one en-suite had no blinds / privacy and overlooked the field but also another property .

We loved this house but there were a few minor issues to be dealt with. We had not anticipated the very difficult access up the drive and were only made aware of any difficulty shortly before the holiday commenced. Tregarn is really a beautiful cottage with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. We liked it all very much. It is very quiet there and the surrounding is absolutely great.
