This spacious character property is surrounded by farmland and natural beauty, offering a vast number of accessible adaptations throughout to make life as easy as possible for parties with disabled guests. Located in West Down, many of North Devon’s beaches are within close proximity for a day out exploring and getting to know the coast, including Woolacombe (4 miles), Saunton (7 miles) and Croyde (6 miles). The market town of Barnstaple (11 miles) is also less than half an hour's drive away for a spot of shopping or to find a fantastic eatery for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

This property has been thoughtfully converted to ensure it meets the needs of any disabled guests, starting off with a wheelchair for access between the ground floor and first floor. The Great Hall is wonderfully characterful, with an inglenook fireplace, vaulted roof and log burning stove for cosy evenings, with a range of sofas and chairs for everyone's comfort. The snug lounge is a great place to retreat for peace and quiet, with a TV, fireplace and plenty of seating. A 30ft kitchen/dining room offers the ultimate area for feasts, seating up to 12 around the large wood dining table. The kitchen itself has state of the art facilities and plenty of space to create a meal to remember. All six of the bedrooms have luxurious oak doors and flooring and offer varying levels of accessible alterations. The large ground-floor room is accompanied by an en-suite shower room. Two of the upstairs bedrooms share a Jack and Jill en-suite. The family bathroom has a free-standing bath, whilst all bathrooms have roll-in showers and have been thoughtfully designed with people’s additional needs as the highest priority.

The outdoor space is just as fantastic as the indoor, with facilities to dine alfresco in the yard, or ramble out to the large field complete with private lake for a picnic, or to take part in water sports such as boating, canoeing or kayaking. A heated 5.5m pool with adjoining hot tub provides the perfect place to unwind, and just a few steps away is a changing room with shower and WC for ease.

Were a family party of nine, with 3 young children and 1 wheelchair user. Otter Pool Barn accommodated us all perfectly, the rooms were spacious and comfortable and there are some lovely decorative objects on display throughout the barn. We were in the pool every day and the kids made full use of the outdoor play area. Such a lovely holiday.

Otter pool barn is a wonderful place for large families like ours that need disabled adaptations (best we have found anywhere) We were fortunate enough to have lovely sunny weather so we used the pool daily which was fantastic We could also appreciate the beautiful views to their best advantage and enjoyed walks around the lake most days

Clean, warm and welcoming. Very comfortable and easy get around with a wheelchair. The hoist in the downstairs bedroom was really good and easy to use. Tons of hot water, a very well equipped kitchen. The jacuzzi was used and enjoyed every day. The outside spaces are lovely, our dog enjoyed his morning run around the lake. What a wonderful place. A magnificent adapted barn in a fabulous location for driving around North Devon. Very well equipped to a high standard, wonderful to relax in the spa/pool watching magnificent Devon sunsets. You can rest assured that if one or more of your party is a wheelchair user or has mobility challenges that this property is incrediRead morebly well adapted. For us being able to have use of profiling beds, with pressure relief air mattress and overhead tracking hoist was such a boon and a major attraction for us. Impressive and spacious property with unique features which easily accommodated our party of 12. It was clean and attractive with some unique features, everything within the property was of good quality too. This cottage was perfect. 6 large double bedrooms rooms with excellent facilities for my very disabled husband .There is a large main lounge and another large lounge where we played snooker , table tennis and other games . The kitchen diner is massive with a very large dinning table for all to sit round .The swimming pool was fab and had a changingRead more room beside it with a shower . As well as a garden there was a very large field where we flew our kites. There is also a path down to a lake where you can canoe and paddle board but unfortunately the weather was not that good so we didnt use the lake . We were particularly impressed with the small gestures (dish washer tabs, washing gel for washing machine, soap in every room, enough toilet roll for the week, towels galore, cleaning materials to deal with spills and daily chores which is very considerate. We had a wonderful time, 12 of us, aged 2 to 60, and a dog! The hot tub/pool was a welcome addition, usable even in the cold, wet weather, with the cover. The house and much of the grounds was fully accessible for a full time powered wheelchair user. Ilfracombe and Woolacombe close by, as is the Tarka trail.

This was our second stay at Otter Pool Barn. Our adult son has a complex physical disability and the property has an amazing level of accessibility and equipment for those with physical disabilities.
