This welcoming and spacious Welsh cottage is ideal for a large group to get together for an active countryside escape. It is situated right on the edge of the stunning Snowdonia National Park, so there are many options for fantastic hiking from your doorstep and you can spend days exploring your amazing surroundings. If you’d like to take on the challenge of summiting Snowdon, then the base itself is around 15 miles away by road. The closest village is Bethesda 3 miles away which has a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes for refuelling at. The larger town of Bangor is 9 miles away where you can visit Penrhyn Castle – a huge 19th-century neo-Norman castle sitting proudly on the edge of the water. Beyond that is the beautiful Llyn Peninsular with its miles of rugged coastline and beautiful sandy beaches.

The house offers versatile accommodation with options for extending your group from 10 to 12. It is warm and comfortable throughout with underfloor heating and fantastic countryside views. Guests enter via an ample hallway with a Welsh slate floor. The open-plan kitchen/diner is the heart of the house with a large sociable space where the whole group can gather to cook and eat together. The handcrafted oak kitchen is a joy to work in and the Welsh oak table seats up to fourteen. There’s also an inviting living room with sofas for ten gathered around a cosy wood burner. French doors lead from here to the patio garden. Also on the ground floor is an additional room that can either be configured as a snug with an L-shaped sofa or a bedroom with either two single beds or a king-size bed (please specify your preference at the time of booking). A shower room completes the downstairs. Upstairs guests will find four welcoming bedrooms and a bathroom featuring a bath. The master bedroom is a double with an additional single sofa bed and glass doors leading to a wooden balcony and offering gorgeous views over the mountains and valley. There is another double bedroom, a twin room and a final bedroom with a zip-and-link bed that can either be configured as a twin or a super-king.

Outside guests will find a spacious traditional Welsh slate patio extending to a lawn. The patio is set with various seating areas for enjoying the fresh air and views. A pretty mountain stream runs along the bottom of the garden into the river Ogwen. To reach this, guests will cross a lovely wildflower meadow and some uneven ground then follow a gated track down to the stream (children need supervision in this area). The wooden balcony in the master bedroom is set with a table and chairs and has lovely views.

The house was spotless and good information was provided beforehand. On a separate note I would say it left a bad taste to say if something was forgotten there would be a 20 charge to send it on.....
