This unique, luxurious Victorian house, that’s full of character, makes a great relaxation base for group or family getaways to picturesque Ilfracombe on the North Devon Coast. Stay less than a mile from the colourful, cliff-surrounded harbour overlooked by a 14th-century chapel - a place of interest that’s worth a visit. Make sure you explore the galleries, independent shops and eateries in town (300 metres), sampling as many Devon cream teas as you can fit in. Enjoy the spectacular scenery by walking the South West Coast Path, which passes through the town, and the local beaches including unique Tunnels Beaches (0.5 miles) where tunnels hand carved in the 1820s lead to beaches and a tidal Victorian bathing pool.
Kick off sandy shoes in the main entrance porch and pass through the hallway which features original Victorian tiles. Make yourself at home in the luxuriously styled living room with its elaborate ceiling coving, candelabra and art deco furnishings. Throw family film nights in front of the 65-inch TV with blackout curtains on the bay windows. Create memories in the dining room where there’s a table and faux leather seating for dinners for eight, plus a TV and additional seating in a snug area just off the side, providing further relaxation space. The big kitchen, with its modern gloss units and pattern tiled floor, has space to cook for all, as well as a small, four-seater table. The ground floor also has a utility room with a handy WC. Find your stylish bedrooms upstairs. The first floor features a double and a king-size, both with feature fireplaces. The latter boasts white floorboards, contrasting feature walls and a bay window with a bench underneath for moments of private peace. The bathroom is spacious with luxurious touches like the roll-top bath - perfect for soaking - separate shower cubicle and a Victorian-style WC and cistern with matching hand basin. There’s also a further shower room on the first floor. The second floor is home to the two twin bedrooms which are cosy and quirky with wooden floorboards, vaulted ceilings, fireplaces and feature walls.
If you want to move the socialising outdoors, there is a small, decked area with seating and a BBQ for al fresco group dining. The pergola and greenery add to the tranquil feel. Enter the walled garden via the side entrance where you'll find an outside tap that’s ideal following coastal and country pursuits.
