Property code: OC-WY510

This former farm building has been thoughtfully converted into a holiday home for a gathering of family or friends and offers plenty of space to socialise. It’s located on a working arable farm just outside the quaint village of Langton Herring, which has original thatched cottages from the 17th and 18th century and is only a mile from Chesil Beach. The local village pub is 200 metres away, and the seaside town of Weymouth, 6 miles away, has a sandy beach, a pretty harbour and an eclectic mix of independent restaurants, coffee shops and galleries.

The property features natural wood and stone flooring throughout, high vaulted ceilings, and lovely picture windows framing views out to Chesil Beach and, on a clear day, as far as Lyme Bay. The open-plan living space includes feature artwork and is furnished with comfortable sofas, a dining area with a table and chairs for ten people, and a kitchen with a central island and all the mod cons required to cook up a feast. Doors from the living room open out onto the patio area. All four bedrooms have their own allocated bathroom. A double bedroom on the ground floor has an accessible shower room across the hallway, and another bedroom with twin beds and one set of bunk beds has an en-suite bathroom. A double bedroom on the first floor has a bathroom with a shower over the bath across the hallway, and the king-size bedroom has its own en-suite shower room.

The south-facing garden includes a patio area with outdoor seating and a BBQ, a fenced-off lawn area, and loungers facing the sea.

Situated in a quiet, tranquil location. We had a peaceful, restful stay. The property was warm and bright due to its South facing aspect. Our family of 7 adults and two babies fitted in the spacious property where all our needs were catered for. There were plenty of lovely pubs to eat in which were easy to get to. The Elm Tree Inn and the KingRead mores Arms, the latter in Portesham, had great service and outstanding food. Weymouth and Bridport kept us busy, in fact we needed a longer stay. Highly recommend. Lovely stay, gorgeous views & lots of nice walks. We enjoyed our visits to the WW2 museum & Tout Quarry in Portland and swimming in Durdle Door. Not sure if they are house martins in the nest or swifts, but lovely to see them! Saw a small deer in the field, pheasants & hares. Thank you. P.S. Family get-together. Lovely location and beautiful house (nostalgia of childhood holidays in Dorset)

Reviewed by Anonymous 8th July 2022

Wans Barton is stunning. Fantastic venue for a family get-together, and glorious weather all week. We too have seen partridges, wagtails, hare, rabbits, skylarks, and the wonderful 5 juvenile swallows and their parents who came back every night and squeeze into their nest. Special request: Please leave their nest there so they can return to it nextRead more year. Like the swallows, we could love to come back! Hide

Perfect location for a family reunion and celebration! Lovely house, with a wonderful view and a great location. Kids loved it!

We have enjoyed staying at Wans Barton - weather has been glorious so we've eaten Alfresco. Had 2 pairs of partidges, 1 pheasant, 1 hare, 1 wagttail, and a family of housemartins as neighbours. The ground floor facilities made it so much easier. Beautiful views and central to visiting places - could move in really! Cheers
