Relish a rural getaway with the family or a group at these two adjoining barn conversions (so you can holiday together whilst retaining some privacy) that are charming with beams and farmland views. Located in Gisleham, the properties are surrounded by countryside: ramble along the scenic paths and spot wildlife as you go. Kessingland beach (2.5 miles) is a sight to behold with sand backed by picturesque cliffs. Another seaside destination to enjoy is Southwold (9 miles). Stroll the beach-side, hut-lined promenade; explore the pier’s shops, cafes and amusements; sample local restaurants over family or group dinners; and take a look at the Grade II Listed working lighthouse.
The biggest of the two adjoining cottages is accessed through an entrance hall where there’s space to leave shoes, coats and outdoor gear. The sitting room is contemporary with wooden floors and leather sofas, plus plenty of entertainment options with the TV, DVD player, radio, books and board games. The kitchen/dining area boasts the same light wooden floors and fixtures, with the addition of bright worktops and two-tone wall tiles. Highlights include the Tassimo coffee machine, six-seater dining table and plump armchair. The ground floor also has a wet room with a shower and a WC. Upstairs on the first floor, there’s a double bedroom, a twin bedroom (with zip-and-link beds that can be organised as a king-size if requested at time of booking) and a king-size bedroom which boasts an en-suite shower room. A Z-bed for an extra child can be included in this king-size room (on request at time of booking, at additional cost) or a travel cot. The first-floor bathroom - which has a delightful mix of sleek floor tiles and traditional ceiling beams - is great for families as it offers the options of a bath, a handheld shower and a separate shower cubicle. Notice the original timber rafters throughout many of the upstairs rooms in both of these barn conversions. In the smaller, adjoining cottage you’ll find a ground-floor, open-plan living space with the same light wood floors and fixtures. There’s a kitchen with a four-seater dining area and a living area featuring plump leather sofas by large windows, one of which overlooks the garden. Entertainment isn’t short: there’s a TV with DVD, DAB radio with Bluetooth, books and games. Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a twin bedroom and a bathroom featuring a bath with a handheld shower. Both houses benefit from underfloor heating.
Outside the two cottages, there’s a large, shared garden with farmland views and a BBQ. For added privacy, the properties each have private patio areas with wooden furniture and parasols. The biggest cottage also boasts wooden garden games and outdoor toys including tractors to ride, in a nod to those sweeping rural surroundings.
