Located in the charming village of Ruswarp in North Yorkshire, this delightful former chapel has ample space for a family or group of friends. With a private garden and indoor spa, this home is the perfect place to relax in comfort. The small village of Ruswarp is a quaint village dotted with small shops, tearooms, and grocery stores. Children will love riding the miniature steam train here and boating on the River Esk. There’s also an award-winning butcher and bakery, so be sure to stock up on high-quality meat, cheeses, and bread. Ruswarp also possesses some excellent hiking trails and one that shouldn’t be missed is the 1.5-mile walk between Ruswarp and Whitby. For a day at the beach, make the 2-mile drive to Whitby Beach. After a swim, ride the lift up the cliff and enjoy spectacular views of the North Sea.

A great deal of time and attention has been poured into making this a comfortable home, and those with a taste for contemporary design will like the modern furnishings, ambient lighting, and striking mirrors on the walls. On the ground floor, you’ll find a handy boot and shoe room that leads through to a cool, sleek kitchen kitted out with modern appliances and a granite-topped breakfast bar. From here, a spiral staircase sweeps up the open-plan living area. Chapel windows, a working organ, and swathes of natural light create a tranquil ambience while leather sofas, bookcases, and feature clocks create a sense of elegant splendour. There’s a wood burner here too, to keep things toasty on cooler nights. Overlooking the lounge is an eight-seater dining table leading off to a snug room where children can kick back with a film on the Smart TV. A neat bedroom featuring a king-size bed is also on this floor. The spiral staircase continues up to a reading room and pristine family bathroom featuring a free-standing bath and shower while, on the top floor, you’ll find the remaining three bedrooms. All are light and airy and feature a mix of twin and super-king beds. The master suite also has its own bathroom with a shower. The real bonus lies on the ground floor where an arched door leads through to a spa room. Here you can spend time relaxing in the Jacuzzi or unwinding in the sauna. Afterwards, cool off in the rainfall shower or loll on a lounger.

While there is much to enjoy inside, the garden is also a peaceful spot. Enjoy a cool drink on the manicured lawn or dine al fresco at the covered table.

The Old Chapel was a fantastic property to stay in for a half term break with the family and grandparents! The property was spotlessly clean, and each bedroom was super comfy! The kitchen and living spaces meant there was plenty of room for everyone to relax and read or watch TV! The spa was the added bonus, and afforded some lovely relaxation aRead morefter each day of exploring the local area. Hide

We had a person with limited mobility and although the property had a GF bedroom and WC they were only accessed between the 2 by several stairs up to the sitting room, and a walk across the sitting room.then down a few stairs. This could be better stated in the accessibility information .A toilet or even better, a shower room in the snug area adjacRead moreent to the GF bedroom would be perfect. Otherwise great quirky property. Hide

Fantastic cottage in a great location with lovely walks into Whitby, 2 great car parking spots with 2 more if you dare to drive through the narrow gate. The photos dont do the chapel justice its amazing, could just do with a couple of hair dryers and spare toilet rolls - would definitely recommend

We were unable to use the jacuzzi as it was flooding the spa room, which was a big disappointment and something we were looking forward to using. We had to use the lovely towels to mop up all the water. We called maintenance and we told someone would come and resolve it but no one came. Everything else was beautiful, rooms were gorgeous and decor wRead moreas lovely. The kitchen was abit disjointed from the other main living area and as the one doing all the cooking I was away from everyone else in tha party alot. We understand that this was due to the configuration of such an old building. There were little touches for my brothers 60th and the welcome basket and sweets were super. We loved the fact features were kept from the time it was a Chapel. We enjoyed our stay and the locality and would definitely book again and hopefully be able to relax in the jacuzzi. Hide

Access to property to limited to poor, given property sleeps 8, not unreasonable to think there may be a need to park more than 2 cars. The main parking for 2 cars is limited to small cars and not necessary the sort of car associated with with a high value rental. The overflow parking is through the propertys gate which again greatly limits the typRead moree of car that can access property - this is not mentioned in the property particulars and neither is the unmade road size mentioned either. Having read the visitors book in the property we are not alone with these thoughts, perhaps you should be a little more honest within your description. Hide

Although the house is spectacular and the grounds are lovely, the parking situation was very bad. We had two cars to park and did try parking them in the grounds, only to damage one of the cars getting out of the gates. Very tight situation for parking and really lets this holiday let down.
