Gather friends or family and get away from it all in the heart of the North York Moors. Located within the spectacular Great Fryup Dale this substantial stone property is surrounded by miles of heather moorland, bracken-strewn ridges and a patchwork of farmland contained by drystone walls. Secluded and ideal for a sophisticated get-together, it’ll put your party at the centre of the National Park – villages such as Danby (4 miles), Lealholm (5 miles) and Rosedale Abbey (8 miles) are all worth a visit, coastal favourite Whitby is 14 miles away and Grosmont, northern terminus of the scenic North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is 11 miles.

Country living comes super-sized and with an added sense of fun at this thoughtfully designed holiday home. Take the steps or gently sloping path to the front door; step inside and you’ll find space for shoes and coats in a welcoming hallway, which leads left to an impressive open-plan kitchen/diner where bespoke units, a wood burner, sofa and large dining table that converts to a full-sized pool table set the scene for convivial mealtimes or chatting whilst on chef duties. Cooks of all abilities will love the kitchen where an island unit houses a ceramic hob; there are two electric ovens and a grill too, plus that all-important wine cooler. Windows offer views of the surrounding scenery, and underfoot there’s a constant reminder of your whereabouts: feature flooring crafted from Yorkshire slate. To the other side of the entrance hall is a spacious carpeted lounge with elegant nine-seat leather sofa, additional armchair, large Smart TV and French doors leading to the garden. Triple aspect windows afford spectacular views of Great Fryup Dale. Make time for family-style fun in the boot room where, alongside space for outdoor gear, you’ll find a high table and stools and a selection of board games; ideal for adults and children to enjoy some time away from one another; there’s a door leading to the rear garden here too. The ground floor has its own cloakroom for convenience, while two upper floors present five lovely bedrooms, all with solid wood furnishings and offering a variety of sleeping options to suit any party of guests. On the first floor there are three double-bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, plus the main house bathroom that features a free-standing roll-top bath and a separate top-of-the-range shower. The second-floor layout includes a double bedroom, another with full-size bunk beds, and a separate shower room.

A driveway with ample parking and an enclosed garden with BBQ area and outside seating really make the most of their rural location, while all around there’s beautiful moorland, its colours and mood changing with the seasons and as the clouds move overhead.

The cottage was very comfortable and beautifully fitted out. It is quite remote, but ideal for fit walkers. We booked it for a family reunion to bring together my brother from Australia, myself, my daughter and grandaughter from Spain, our stepsister from Derbyshire and our cousins, who are more local and we really had a grand time. Beautiful cottage and excellent facilities. We were a large group who all felt very comfortable there. The games, table tennis room and pool table kept the children entertained. Amazing surroundings. Would highly recommend.

A very lovely property with outstanding views in a beautiful setting, and a lot of thought given by the owners to comfort and facilities, as well as all the quality ornaments and decorative touches which made the cottage a real home, rather than a "rental". The cottage is spacious, yet always warm and cosy in mid-winter. The living-room seating is Read moreideal for a large group to relax and chat, or watch tv. Everything was excellent, and we (party of 9) enjoyed a wonderful week. Our sincere thanks to owners Len and Sarah Gray. Hide

An excellent and superbly appointed property in a very quiet, peaceful and lovely valley. Very good position for northern end of NY Moors National Park - particularly if you are looking to walk or cycle ( in which case several good pubs are within 5 - 6 miles).

We have just come back from a fabulous week in the North York Moors this October. Woodhead Farm Cottage was everything we needed and more. We booked the property to go to a family wedding at Danby Castle and then stayed for the whole week. The cottage was perfect for us, 8 adults and 2 children. Warm and comfortable. Lovely beds and enough bathroomRead mores for everyone. Large spacious kitchen, so easy to self cater. The lounge and huge settee were a welcome space to relax after days out. Beautiful views across Fryup Dale, sunrise over the hills with a morning cup of tea to the sound of the cows and chickens, bliss. Wi-Fi was great which was good because no mobile signal. Hide

Clean and aesthetically pleasing cottage! Plenty to do and the pictures dont do it justice. Much nicer in person, everyone had a lovely time. Only thing I would mention is the road leading to the property isnt friendly for all cars due to the large potholes and steep hills.
