For an extra-special group trip to gorgeous Northumberland, stay at this wow-factor country house set within 0.75 acres of private land. You’ll be in the pretty hamlet of Spindlestone, part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The magnificent Bamburgh Castle is 3.5 miles away, and there is a picturesque golf course nearby (4 miles) where you can enjoy a round or two. If you fancy a watery day out, head along the coast to Seahouses (5.5 miles); from here you can take a boat to the stunning Farne Islands, which are well-known for their puffins and grey seals.

This property is decorated to an extraordinarily high standard, with careful attention to detail throughout – intricate wallpaper, pretty floral curtains and tasteful artwork for starters. The cosy living room has dual-aspect windows and two leather Chesterfield-style sofas where you can lounge as you absorb the heat from the open fire. There’s also a TV with Netflix for catching up with your favourite series. In the impressive dining area/day room, two impressive chandeliers hang on either side of a lovely dark-wood table with six chairs. Here, too, dual-aspect windows let in plenty of light. The well-equipped and spacious kitchen has gorgeous teal-coloured units and everything you need for preparing delicious group meals. There’s also a convenient downstairs WC. Head up to the first floor and you’ll find the five gorgeously decorated bedrooms, all with their own special charm. One has an impressive four-poster bed, a traditional-style dressing table and an en-suite shower room with WC. You’ll also find a double and a single room, plus two twin rooms. Look out for cosy details like curtain valances and antique lamps that contribute to the luxurious feel. The family bathroom, also on this floor, has a striking black and white colour scheme, a sash window and a traditional style reminiscent of Victorian properties.

The extravagance continues outside, where there’s an indulgent hot tub for relaxing after a busy day of exploring. You’ll also have access to a patio with garden furniture and a grassy lawn. The garage has been turned into a games room, shared with the adjacent property, which has a striking vaulted ceiling propped up by wooden beams. Here, you’ll find sofas, a pool table, table tennis and dart board, as well as a second fridge.

Visitors should be aware that the owners are currently building 2 new stone cottages in the garden and everything possible is being done to minimise disturbance.

Fantastic holiday home. Everything has been thought of, games room was brilliant, hot tub perfect to relax in after a long day walking. Kitchen well equipped, even with a slow cooker, and great books and games to keep everyone entertained. Bedrooms all clean, warm and comfortable although some more coat hangers would be good - I only had oneRead more in my room. Driveway is a little tight and parking could be an issue if the house and cottage were both fully occupied but not a major problem. Lots of little touches to make the stay special such as a goody bag with cheese and biscuits and vouchers for sausages as well as tips on what to do. Would definitely recommend. Hide

Went to Spindlestone with a group of friends, we were pleasantly surprised. The house is really impressive and even better was the separate games room. Obviously the house is very old and some of the decor is dated, however it didnt bother us and we really enjoyed our stay. The house warmed up really quickly, it was obvious the heating system hadRead more been updated to accommodate the old building this was good as the upstairs felt a bit damp at times. The beds were super comfy and we slept really well, it was so quiet! The hot tub was great and clean, unfortunately the British weather took over and it poured down with rain the whole weekend, whilst it didnt bother us maybe a pergola would be a good addition over the top of it. We were given a lovely welcome pack which was a nice touch and the kitchen was so well equipped. Only negative would be the check in and out times as this was completely non flexible- 10am was quite early when we couldnt get in until 4pm so we felt like we were rushing a lot would be nice to have the option if there arent other guests checking in/ out that day. Aside from that original cottages have been great and the updates have been regular and helpful. Would definitely use again and recommend Spindlestone house! Hide

House was good and large rooms although quite dated. Beds all comfortable and hot tub well maintained. Didnt get welcome pack initially and had to chase. New build next door didnt have a major impact. Could do with plastic glasses for hot tub and oven glove in kitchen. Loads of utensils, plates glasses, cutlery etc.

The equipment in the house was good but not very clean ie microwave was disgusting, some of the pots pans and cutlery hadnt been washed properly and just put in cupboards and drawers very untidily. The shower curtain in the main bathroom was past its best (mouldy and dirty) under stairs cupboard was a danger zone with everything just flung inside (Read more ironing board iron cushions high chair) Hide

Location was quiet. Ideal for families who like walking. Two rooms were dark but that went with the character of the house. Flies around the hot tub were annoying. Could have done with a cloths airier/line as not all clothes can tumble dry. Otherwise a lovely family house for all ages.

The property suited us very well. A family of 10 from 15 months to 79 years. The games room was a great space for the young teenagers and hot tub for the older generation. The location offered excellant access to the attracctions of the coast. It was quiet and offer both sunny and shady spots both of which were much appreciated.

We had a really good holiday in Spindlestone House and Cottage - spacious, full of character and comfortable and it was well equipped.
