Bring the family to stay in this Lakeland escape in the heart of a picturesque village that was once home to William Wordsworth. If you enjoy cultural history, pay a visit to Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum (0.5 miles), or the National Trust’s Allan Bank (400 metres) with its hobby rooms for children. Walkers are spoilt for choice with the surrounding fells – you’ll find a peaceful expanse of water at Easedale Tarn, 2 miles west, while lovely Rydal Water is 2 miles south-east and boasts trails to suit all abilities, as well as a stately home and gardens. Cross over Red Bank into the stunning Langdale Valley to reach Elterwater, 2 miles south of the property, with its superb vistas. Ambleside is 5.5 miles south and Keswick is 12.5 miles north. But, with a wealth of eateries and independent shops within a few hundred metres, you have everything you need close to home.
Entering into a lounge area with stone flags and wooden beams, you’ll find seating focused around the inviting wood burner. Just off the living area there’s the kitchen and dining room, finished in a contemporary style, where you can enjoy a family meal together. Also on the ground floor is the charming downstairs bedroom with an en-suite wet room. This bedroom has the added bonus of having its own entrance adjacent to the parking area, which may be useful for guests requiring easy access. Upstairs, the master benefits from an en-suite shower room and a private balcony overlooking the rear garden. Also on this floor is a twin and a further double bedroom, both tastefully decorated with period features throughout. The family bathroom with its roomy tub is perfect for a long soak after a day on the fells.
A peaceful rear garden is flanked by trees for privacy; a lovely spot to relax and have a coffee on the patio. Or couples can take advantage of a little alone time on the balcony, while children play in the garden below.
