Offering fabulous holiday accommodation for up to ten guests, this spacious property is perfect for discovering an idyllic part of the beautiful Suffolk countryside. It is in the secluded former fishing village of Walberswick, just across the harbour from the bustling little town of Southwold which has a pier, beach, plenty of great places to eat and drink and the Southwold Maize Maze. Surrounded by heath and marshland, Walberswick has a couple of welcoming pubs, a tearoom, an art gallery and a gift shop, as well as a sand and shingle beach backed by sand dunes. The village is home to the British Open Crabbing Championship, and the Suffolk Coast National Nature Reserve is just a mile away.

At the heart of the property is a spacious and stylish open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The lounge area has a wood burner and views out over the garden. Making a fantastic space for everyone to get together, the impressive dining area has a large dining table and floor-to-ceiling windows. The living area also has a sleek kitchen, and there’s a central table-football table to keep younger guests occupied. An additional snug has a Smart TV, soft seating and a wood burner, providing a quiet spot to relax away from the group. The ground floor also has a handy shower room. The property offers five bright and tastefully decorated bedrooms. The first is a ground-floor king-size room. Three more bedrooms are on the first floor: a charming en-suite king-size room, a lovely twin, and another king-size room with access to a Jack and Jill bathroom with an electronic lock system. The final twin bedroom is on the second floor, with beautiful sea views, low, sloping ceilings and access to a shower room.

Outside, the large front garden is laid to shingle, with a decked area and plenty of outdoor furniture, providing an ideal spot to sit back and laze in the sun. There’s even a handy outside shower, ideal for sandy feet and muddy paws. The back garden has a large lawn and a furnished patio area making a great space for dining alfresco. There’s a BBQ and a table for playing table tennis.

We had a very enjoyable time at 1 Anchor Cottage. We were a large extended 3-generation family plus a dog. The size of the house, the large "living area" plus the quiet front lounge, allowed us to all be together whilst also giving some quiet space when individuals wanted to get time to themselves. Just back from a week spent with my family, ages range 16-77 and this house was perfect. Very well equipped and having ten to cook for the two ovens and two dishwashers were invaluable. All the beds were comfortable with lovely pillows and linen. We Would all happily revisit.
