This is an attractive traditional cottage that is surprisingly spacious, sleeping up to eight in a simply brilliant location in Southwold less than 100 metres from both sea and town centre. It’s the stuff of dreams for making holiday memories with family or friends. Stock up on supplies, opt for retail therapy, admire the numerous galleries and stroll the promenade past the colourful beach huts to the restored pier or try a pint of Adnams’ finest – still brewed just outside the town. You can even take a tour of the brewery or gin distillery. Tick the lighthouse, RNLI boat station and harbour off the list too! Just don’t forget the fish and chips – there’s a few options in town plus fish shacks at the harbour end selling line-caught fish plus seafood if you want to take it back to your cosy bolthole. While you’re there, if it’s summer, catch the traditional foot ferry across the water to Walberswick which is equally quaint to explore. Southwold Museum can give you the full story of this fascinating little town that’s shifted from fishing village to weekend favourite.

This charming house is beautifully appointed throughout with tasteful decor and nods to the sea. Downstairs, a huge L-shaped sofa unit calls you to relax in front of the wood burner on your own or with the family. Pick a good book from the shelves lining part of the walls. The  second, smaller snug lounge has a sofa bed (please request at time of booking). The modern fitted kitchen has some bar seats and serves all your holiday purposes – from morning coffee to a seafood evening feast. Eat the latter in the dining room, comfortably seating eight at its light-wood table. The decadence continues upstairs with two lovely king-size bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room, plus a twin room. They all provide really welcoming spaces with armchairs in the bigger rooms and nautical-themed details and colour schemes. A contemporary bathroom has a shower over the bath and WC. All in all, this property offers the absolute luxury of spending time all together, in small groups or even alone – just perfect for a harmonious family holiday!

There is an enclosed private courtyard with garden furniture nestled behind the house.

Fishermans Cottage is a perfect location just steps from both the beach and the town and of course the Nelly! We have stayed in both the June and January and it is a house for all seasons. It comfortably took our family party of 7 with a bed to spare, but was equally cosy when they left and two of us had a few peaceful days together. The RangemasteRead morer is plenty man enough for a family Roast and the small sunny courtyard and BBQ was well used in the summer. Hide

The location for this cottage was great although alittle noisy first thing in the mornings with deliveries etc. The sofa bed is very uncomfortable and needs updating. The cleanliness of the house needs to be addressed but on the whole is was ok if you didnt look too hard. The upstairs is lovely with decent size bedrooms. Response from holidaycottRead moreages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We can confirm that we will discuss your sofa bed feedback with the owner. The cleaning issues have been addressed. Hide

The beds in the twin room have unacceptable mattresses for adult or child use. This led to loss of sleep in an otherwise comfortable property.

Location very good for us, as we have limited mobility and we like to see lots of people. Courtyard nice on hot days. Easy to food shop and the market. Comfortable house overall and sofa bed used for grandson.

What a great position nearly opposite The Nelson pub. Fishermans Cottage is very central to everything that beautiful Southwold has to offer. Comfortable family accommodation which included the 4 legged members. Well equipped for 8 people and includes a lovely, little sun trap courtyard! A great base for a Southwold holiday.
