These three characterful, renovated barns on a working farm make an ideal, spacious stay for large families or groups who can holiday together and maintain privacy in separate properties. Located in a secluded valley in Beckley, Sussex, you’ll be surrounded by countryside to admire and explore. Carve out time for a boat trip on the River Rother from Bodiam boating station (14.5 miles) and see Bodiam Castle while you’re there. Fancy a seaside trip? Camber Sands (11 miles) is a sandy beach with dunes and good conditions for windsurfing and kite-surfings. Or you can visit Rye (7.5 miles), a historic, picturesque town packed with atmospheric pubs, quirky shops and a nature reserve.

The first of these three properties - a pet-friendly, one-level, six-sleeper - has a rustic open-plan living space with oak flooring, a vaulted, beamed ceiling and wrought iron chandeliers. The sitting room is classic and cosy, with plenty of seating surrounding the wood burner, TV and sliding doors that lead to the view-offering garden. There’s a dining area with a large table, chairs and a bench seat, while the kitchen sits just beside it, offering modern units and tiling that pleasantly contrast the area’s traditional feel. There are a second set of sliding doors here too, again leading to the garden. Pass through the hallway to find a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, two twin bedrooms, a cloakroom with a WC and a shower room with a large, walk-in shower. The second property - a pet-friendly, four-sleeper - has traditional and stylish features and decor. The open-plan living space is a bright, social area thanks to vaulted ceilings, skylights and glass doors that open to the garden terrace. The kitchen and dining area are rustic-chic, featuring wall tiles and painted wood dining furniture for four, while the sitting room is cosy with its white wood burner, stylish sofas and TV for entertainment. The one-level barn conversion also has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both benefiting from en-suite shower rooms. Finally, the third and final house - a one-level, four-sleeper that doesn’t accept pets - also has a delightful open-plan living area with a vaulted, beamed ceiling, skylights and sliding doors leading to the garden. Painted units, wall tiles and the four-seater round table make the kitchen and dining area chic and charming. The sitting area feels separate thanks to its focus on cosy decor: carpets, two plump sofas, a wood burner and a TV. The property is complete with a double and a twin bedroom, both of which boast en-suite shower rooms.

Each of the three properties has its own private outdoor space. The first, six-sleeper stay has a rear, fully-enclosed garden with a lawned area and a paved terrace boasting a round dining table, chairs, a parasol, a fire pit, and countryside views. The other two properties have non-enclosed front gardens with sloping lawns and patio areas featuring a dining table, four chairs, a parasol and a fire pit. Families and groups can come together on the communal lawn area, where you'll find a picnic bench and a fenced paddock for your dogs.

Three very comfortable warm cottages. We are a family of 8 adults, 6 children (3 to 8 year olds), baby of 12 weeks and a dog. The cottages were perfect for us, especially as the bigger cottage was large enough for everyone to come together comfortably. The children loved seeing the farm animals! We all found it a great base got exploring the area.

we rented all 3 properties at Escheatlands for a birthday celebration for family members aged 8 week to 93 years old and it was comfortable for everyone. Reynards had plenty of room for all 14 of us to gather together for meals etc. but it was also nice that everyone had some space with Medlars and Waders cottages sleeping 4 in each. Brilliant! We hired all three houses at Escheatlands and had a fantastic stay. It was lovely having our separate space but also having a large enough space in Reynards to fit us all to socialise. Fiona was lovely and extremely accommodating. The setting was idyllic and very peaceful. Our party consisted of 11 people aged 3 to 82 and it was perfect Read morefor us all. Just a short drive away from Rye Town, Camber Sands beach and other places, there was always something to do/see. I would definitely recommend staying here and would definitely stay again! Hide
