Property code: OC-TSUMME

This gorgeous 1939 house is an excellent option for a large group – for example, two or three families holidaying together. It’s located in Abersoch, a popular seaside resort with a pretty harbour and plenty of cafes and restaurants for you to discover during your trip. The local beach is only 300 metres away – why not take a pre-breakfast stroll for a scenic start to each day? Further afield, the nearby village of Llanbedrog (3 miles) is well worth the trip, as is Pwllheli, 7 miles up the coast.

You’ll enter the house into a roomy hallway with lovely oak staircases leading up and down. From here, step into the main living/dining room, a beautiful space with sofas, a TV, DVD and speaker system positioned on either side of a wood burner. There’s a long oak table seating up to 16 – ideal for those big family meals. French windows from here offer wonderful views and take you out to the decked area. The kitchen/living room, a stunning space with oak flooring and furniture, has a lovely fitted kitchen with high-quality appliances, including a wine fridge to keep your drinks cool. There’s a large sofa and a TV here, too. In the utility room, you’ll find the washing machine and tumble dryer. Also on the ground floor are two bedrooms – a twin with zip-and-link beds and a double with a lovely wooden bed. The roomy family bathroom has a limestone floor and walls, plus underfloor heating, for that five-star-hotel effect. On the first floor, you’ll find the master bedroom featuring an emperor-size bed, sofa and chairs. The views in here are truly fantastic, and there’s an en-suite bathroom with a period-style shower mixer, basin and radiators for a stylish flourish. In the elegant super-king-size bedroom, a gallery window provides incredible sea views toward Saint Tudwal’s Islands. The twin bedroom has zip-and-link beds that you can combine to make a super-king-size if needed. This room has a floor-length mirror, an indulgent armchair and an en-suite shower room. There’s also a family shower room with a limestone floor near these rooms. The lower ground floor of this majestic property has another super-king-size room furnished with antique pieces and with two feature alcoves. There’s also a quad room with two bunk beds – a great room for children to share. Guests of these rooms can use the shower room on the lower ground floor.

Outside the property, there’s a slate-paved covered area which you may find handy for storing sports equipment. The decked area has a dining table, chairs, a rattan sofa and a coffee table; this is a great spot for enjoying the sunshine or an evening cocktail. The large lawn is flanked by shrubs, trees and hedges, and at the front of the house, there’s a stone bird bath – still in use – dating back to when the house was built. Two gates from here lead to a path that heads down to the golf course and beach.

The property itself was excellent, superb location We do have some observations *. Given the price of the property we would have expected provision of essential consumables such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, adequate toilet rolls, and additional black bags. Having stayed in a variety of much less expensive properties, such items have Read morebeen more generous *. The check in and check out time are wholly unrealistic for a party of 15 that included 4 families, 7 young children and one person with mobility/health issues when they have been travelling considerable distances Hide

A few big cobwebs in the property in different rooms. We found the 9am checkout a little harsh. esp as it was a 5pm check in. But we were of this when we booked the product.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Summer House very much. It is a lovely big, light and airy house with everything we needed for a comfortable stay for 7 adults, and 3 small children. The kitchen was great, with 2 dishwashers and all the equipment we could possibly need for preparing meals, which we did a lot of!! The beds are very comfortable, andRead more all the rooms light and spacious, the upstairs ones having wonderful coastal views. Also big bathrooms with great showers! The utility room was very useful on returning from days out, and we made good use of it. It is in an ideal location for the sandy beach, 5 minutes walk away, which the children loved. We hired the beach hut, which was well provided with foldable chairs, a wind break and beach toys. Again the children loved these toys. However, we felt that being inside the beach hut, or outside on the decking was unsuitable for young children or less mobile guests as it is a climb up from the beach on large ladder type steps, and no protection at all from an 8 foot drop from the decking down onto the beach (large rock below). The adults collected items from the beach hut and took them down, which gave us comfort for a day on the beach. It was useful as an adult's changing space, but not for changing the children, or eating our picnic away from the sand etc. We thought that this information should be pointed out on a description of the location of the beach hut. For this reason, we found we couldn't get the full use from the beach hut which we had hoped for, which meant that we thought it overpriced at 350 for the 2 days we spent on the beach. Other attractions suitable for young children are more distant, being generally 40 minutes to an hour away by car, but we enjoyed Caernarvon Castle, and for our young children (eldest was 3 years), Gypsy Wood Park near Caernarvon was great. The village of Abersoch is lovely with small shops and restaurants, and there are plenty of hiking opportunities nearby. Hide
