This fabulous and extremely spacious detached family home is ideal for groups of friends and extended family gatherings. Dating back to the 1600s, this pet-friendly property enjoys an idyllic location, surrounded by fine golden sands as far as the eye can see. The holiday home is framed by dunes and downs, and there are numerous paths to explore from the doorstep. For a safe walk with no roads to cross, you can wander down the rugged path over the dunes to reach Great Tor Bay (0.5 miles). The bay is a superb sweep of fine sand, backed by high dunes curving 2 miles round to Oxwich, where you’ll find a beautiful golden sand beach, with opportunities for paddleboarding and kayaking, as well as boat rides to Worm’s Head. The local countryside is a dream destination if you enjoy walking, riding or painting. Visit Swansea (8.8 miles) to explore the marina and maritime museum, markets, shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and golf courses.

Step inside the spacious entrance hall with a piano, grandfather clock, and a pine staircase leading to the first floor. On the ground floor, you’ll find the enticing drawing room/card room/library, with ample comfortable seating, a TV and DVD player, and French doors leading out to the garden. Whether you want to relax in front of your favourite film, play a game of cards, or get stuck into your holiday reading list, this room is a relaxing space to unwind. It features a lovely bay window with views out to the lawn and bay. The children’s lounge is a fabulous room for kids and teenagers to enjoy. With comfortable seating and a TV, pinball machine and pool table, this room is sure to keep the younger members of your group happy. With its four-oven AGA, the dining room is welcoming all year round and offers an authentic taste of country-style living. The large dining table comfortably seats up to ten people, so it’s the ideal space for dinner parties. Step into the fantastic kitchen and you’ll find all of the appliances and utensils you need for your self-catering break. The kitchen leads to a useful utility room with laundry facilities, and a cold room with wine racks, slate slabs, and cabinet deep-freeze. On the first floor, you’ll find a king-size bedroom suite with a private bathroom. The bedroom benefits from a large bay window, and you can relax and enjoy the sea views from the chaise-longue. Also on the first floor is a double bedroom with a cot, sea views, and an en-suite shower room, a further double bedroom with sea views, a bathroom, and a separate WC. On the second floor, there is another WC cloakroom, a double bedroom, a bunk bedded room with sea views, a twin bedroom with sea views and a triple bedroom with sea views and an en-suite bathroom. All of the rooms are tastefully decorated and colour-themed. On the lower ground floor, there is a second sitting room with TV, and three-piece suite. Steps lead to the pool hall, which boasts a heated indoor swimming pool and sauna. A further set of stairs leads to a large indoor sun balcony, which overlooks the pool. The sun balcony is kitted out with conservatory furniture, as well as a fridge, table tennis and shuffleboard facilities.

The pool room doors lead to a boarded and paved terrace with garden furniture. A BBQ is stored in the shed. In the large lawned area, you’ll find plenty of tables, chairs, and sun umbrellas. Guests can enjoy use of the adjoining field for picnics, rambling, and kite flying. On rainy days, head to the modern barn to play indoor games, including skittles and soft ball tennis.

A Xmas break for all the family - 10 adults, 2 kids and 3 dogs. Great location near the beach (which was stunning), Swansea just 20 mins down the road and the house was plenty big enough. Kitchen was great, bedrooms were spot on, the pool got well used along with the pool table.clean and comfortable.what more would you need?

House is very dated but for the price and big parties of people its ideal. Kitchen very well equipped. Nice big table for us all to eat together. Cold room was very handy. Pool was a bit on the cold side but kids didnt mind and was never out of it. Big house in lovely grounds and a view of the beach.

This house is faded elegance but is charming. The setting is outstanding with fabulous views and easy access to stunning beaches. The pool was a huge success with all 3 generations of family. If you want somewhere really smart this isnt for you, but if you are active and in a large group this place ticks lots of boxes.

A large house that met the needs of our family holiday of 15 . There was plenty of seating and the kitchen is well equipped for the needs of a large group. We cooked every meal there with no issues . The pool was disappointing as it was too cold to enjoy . This was the reason we booked this house so if this is the only reason your booking iRead moret have that in mind. The location and views from the house were absolutely stunning and access to coastal walks right on the door step . Hide

We recently enjoyed a delightful week at Penmaen House, a large charming house that provided a wonderful holiday for our three-generation family. The location is idyllic, a setting that offers a perfect balance of relaxation and outdoor activities. The spaciousness of the cottage was particularly appreciated, allowing everyone to have their own spaRead morece while still enjoying quality family time together. The cottage is conveniently close to the beach. However, the path to the beach was quite steep and rugged, making it challenging for our youngest family members. As a result we had to drive to a local cove. The cottage was not quite ready when we arrived, which did not create a good first impression, the beds were unmade and there was a sense we were expected to make them! This was an inconvenience as some of the children needed their beds on arrival. There are a few other areas I would suggest require improvement. While the cottage was wonderful for adults, it is not particularly toddler-friendly. The high chair was more suited to a Victorian child! Families with toddlers might want to bring some extra child proofing items. The interior could also benefit from a fresh coat of paint in some areas to brighten up the space. Moreover, we were disappointed to find that the advertised pitch and putt is no longer available. The swimming pool was well used but the plants were large and didnt create a pleasant environment. Despite these issues, our stay at Penmaen House was thoroughly enjoyable. The charm and comfort of the house, combined with its excellent location, made it a perfect spot for a great multi-generational family holiday. Hide

Penmaen house is a large old house with lovely views from the grounds . It also benefits from footpath access from the grounds to not only the nearby beach and great beach walks but also to the coast path between Three Cliffs Bay and Oxwich which is a beautiful area.

Absolutely beautiful property in perfect location for beach and a short drive to country parks and pubs close by. Swansea town also only a short drive away so has everything a big family could need for a perfect holiday come rain or shine. Even photo spots in the garden with features in keeping with the beauty of the area.

A lovely location and a good size house but I am disappointed to say I would not recommend it or revisit in its current state. Reasons listed below: Too cluttered to keep clean Moth eaten carpets Broken bathroom facilities No lock on pool door had to move a cupboard to ensure 4yr old didnt get in. No lights in sauna broke during our stay spoke to Read moreRos but no follow up. No welcome pack useful to know when bin day etc is No very OAP step father fell off broken toilet seat. No bags to put bed sheets/towels in. Wi fi patchy Using a basket on the lawn mower would have stopped us having to brush all the outdoor chairs/ tables twice. Inventory needs updating second dishwasher had no shelves in it and water in the bottom. Ventilation poor in the laundry room if using the tumble dryer. This house has such potential but needs investment to make it worth the price it commands. Happy to talk about the experience and share photos. Hide
