Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Combe Raleigh is a small, peaceful and picturesque village just 1.5 miles from the neighbouring market town of Honiton. Regarded as the antique capital of the South West, explore the charming market town of Honiton, made famous by lace and pottery, which boasts spectacular surrounding countryside and local beauty spots including Hembury Fort (4 miles) and Blackbury Camp (9 miles). Take a tour through Honiton’s rich history at Allhallows Museum 1.5 miles from the property to discover the most comprehensive collection of Honiton Lace in the world, plus an astonishing wealth of local heritage information.

The property welcomes you into an oak-panelled entrance hall, which leads onto a spacious yet cosy living room complete with deep window sills and a large inglenook with a wood-burning stove, plus plenty of comfortable seating. The library offers a second romantic snug-style living room to enjoy, complemented by a large TV and games, leather armchairs and a sofa, and another quaint wood burner. At the centre of the property, you’ll find a well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen featuring a traditional cooks bench island, with beautiful flagstone floor tiles and exposed oak beams flowing through to the handy neighbouring utility room. The light-filled conservatory offers magnificent views across the lake and distant Blackdown hills and leads onto the adjoining dining room, once the old diary and bakery, featuring a large dining table and chairs as well as the original brick bread oven within an inglenook fireplace. Up the first oak staircase to a private wing above the library, you’ll find the master king-size bedroom with a high-vaulted beamed ceiling, a fireplace, large TV, en-suite bathroom plus a single bed behind the chimney breast. Up the second oak staircase, the first floor comprises a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a king-size bedroom plus another king-size bedroom which also features an extra single bed. There is also a traditional-style family bathroom on this level.

Outside, shared landscaped grounds awaits you with the immediate surroundings of the property featuring a covered BBQ terrace plus a sunny sheltered dining terrace. An Italianate courtyard boasts a trickling fountain, backing onto further lush sweeping lawns, two magnificent lakes with a rustic boat house, tucked away streams, plus a fenced-off sheep and a pig pen to explore.

The kitchen was amazingly well supplied and the library and games rooms had something for everyone. The grounds are like something out of a storybook and the rooms were beautiful and spacious. The owner was lovely and approachable and her help was easily accessible.

It has been the most idyllic break in surroundings that are practically storybook fantasy. We have loved every minute of our stay.
