This is a detached, 1930s-built family home in an elevated position offering wonderful views over the Mawddach Estuary and packed with quirky, original features and charming places to relax as a family or group, both inside and out. Located in Arthog in Southern Snowdonia, there’s plenty of walking to do in the area including at nearby beaches like Fairbourne (2 miles), a lovely seaside village where you can try water sports like surfing and windsurfing - or simply relax in the sunshine and let the kids build sandcastles. In Arthog village, you can enjoy outdoor pursuits such as pony trekking or fishing. Go further afield for mountain biking at Coed y Brenin forest (12 miles) which has excellent scenic trails through the hills and forests.

As soon as you enter this family home, into the entrance hall with its wide staircase and parquet flooring, you’ll notice its charm. Pass through to the sitting room where you can all spread out across the three sofas to watch the TV or gaze through the bay window, with the open fire flickering to make things extra relaxing. Enjoy group dinners in the traditional dining room that’s charming with an antique, eight-seater dining table. The bay window means you have lots of light and lovely views. Another great place to eat together is the breakfast room, again with an eight-seater dining table. It’s a delightful space thanks to the quarry tiled floors and the armchairs beside a cosy Rayburn that’s a lovely feature in the room. The ground-floor kitchen boasts a large range cooker and there’s a pantry adjacent with further facilities and handy storage space. The ground floor is made even more social thanks to the playroom with highlights like a table football, toys and games: kids will love it and the grown-ups might too. The house was very warm and felt homely. We loved the open fire, the childrens toys, the Rayburn, the location. All four generations had a brilliant time.

This property is great for large groups of all ages. The beds were very comfortable, the view is beautiful, the playroom is great for the children. The owners left us some bubbly and Welsh cakes on arrival which was a nice touch! We really enjoyed our stay.

The house was warm, comfortable and well equipped. Positioned in a lovely part of the countryside with views over to the estuary and hills beyond. Especially liked that it had been decorated for our Christmas stay.

Absolutely lovely holiday in this large, clean, comfortable house. We were back for the second year - which says it all. Beautiful views from the huge windows, comfortable accommodation & so much space. Even a chaise longue, where I read, drank coffee and gazed at the view. Heaven!
