This fantastic five-bedroom property is equipped and furnished to a very high standard. Made up of two self-contained but connected properties, it’s the ideal getaway for a large group who want to spend time together while enjoying their own space. It feels like it’s in the middle of the countryside, but it's only a mile to the nearest pub and shops in the village of Ruswarp. This pretty village sits on the banks of the River Esk and on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. It offers plenty of entertainment for adults and children alike. Visitors can take to the river in a pleasure boat, visit a migratory salmon river, or ride on the Ruswarp Miniature Railway. Or visit the Ruswarp Viaduct, an impressive brick creation that forms part of The Cinder Track, a 21-mile hiking and cycling trail from Scarborough (18 miles) to Whitby (2 miles).

Enter via the patio doors and a gentle ramp, and your eye immediately goes up to the floating walkway on the first floor. Look up further to see the glass-paned ceiling which floods this property with natural light. The vast, open-plan living space features a wood burner beside a dining table which can seat 12 people. There is also a TV and DVD as well as an iPod docking station. The kitchen stretches the length of one wall and contains a double oven to help you cater for all those people. Beside the kitchen is the chill-out zone with matching leather sofas, coffee table and TV. Beautiful slate flooring complete with underfloor heating runs throughout. Also on the ground floor is a twin bedroom with French doors to the garden and a wet room with improved accessibility features. Climb the modern staircase to the first floor, where you’ll find a comfortable twin bedroom, then cross the walkway to the huge primary bedroom with its king-sized bed, apex ceiling and en-suite bathroom. Back downstairs and through the shared lobby is the second half of the property, where you’ll find a more traditional layout. The ground floor holds a spacious, comfortable lounge with a wood burner, there is also a TV and DVD as well as an iPod docking station. There is also a well-equipped family-sized kitchen with a dining table for four people. Both rooms have heated slate floors and patio doors to the garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with en-suites and walk-in showers.

The large garden offers an expanse of well-groomed lawns perfect for games or sunbathing and a patio area with table and chairs for al fresco dining.

Perfect holiday cottage for multi generational family - we booked both The Barn and The Cottage and it worked brilliantly for 9 of us. The cottages are beautiful - light and airy and tastefully decorated, overlooking green land. Perfectly located near to Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes. Great holiday! Would recommend.
