Set in a private estate of 30 acres of lakes, woodlands and gardens, this property offers plenty to occupy guests including tennis, rowing, kayaking, open water swimming, wildlife watching (especially the resident kingfishers and otters) and many walks on the property and adjoining it. Visit the picturesque town of Stamford (8 miles) with its stately home, Burghley House, set in lovely parkland. If you need supplies, cafes or takeaways, Market Deeping is only 3 miles away and has a wide range of shops, including an excellent butcher and deli. Closer to home, the local pub is famous for its range of real ales and gins, and the surrounding villages have excellent inns that serve food. For the more active, Tallington Lakes (3 miles) offers water sports like jet skiing and windsurfing, whilst children can visit Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre (8 miles), with farm animals and a large indoor play centre – great for wet days. Hamerton Zoo is 28 miles away and well worth a visit.

This lakeside home is perfectly positioned to enjoy peace and quiet with all your favourite people and is popular with multi generation families and groups. Offering accommodation for eight guests plus two children, it is a great place to escape and enjoy each other’s company. This generous home has a welcoming living room with a beautiful bay window that overlooks the water. Snuggle up on the sofa with a good book or watch the Smart TV or wildlife on the lake and in the grounds. The house has very efficient central heating and there is an electric fire in the lounge for those chillier nights. From here you can head through to the dining room which has a large dining table and seating for everyone. French doors lead onto a terrace which has outdoor seating and a built-in charcoal barbecue. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your culinary needs and is set up for any budding chef to be able to prepare and cook a delicious dinner. An adjoining utility room offers an additional fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a conservatory which is a tranquil spot away from the main living area. Continuing on the ground floor, there are two bedrooms available, one double with TV and sofa, as well as a lovely twin bedroom overlooking the lake. Both share the use of the family bathroom and separate WC and cloakroom. Upstairs hosts the remaining two bedrooms. The master bedroom suite is incredibly spacious and has a king-size bed, small TV, dressing room and en-suite shower room. The second has a zip-and-link king-size bed which can be set up as two singles, and also benefits from an en-suite shower room.

The 30-acre private grounds are the cherry on top for this lovely holiday home. Sit on the terrace that watches over the lake and enjoy al fresco dining morning, noon and night. The lake has a huge array of wildlife, but you can also enjoy taking the rowboat for a paddle, kayaking and even open water swimming. There are life vests for your use. The outdoor tennis court is also available during your stay so you can brush up on your serves and have a game or two. The gardens, including many unusual specimen trees, and woodland were all planted by the owners’ parents and create a wonderful setting to wander through and for children to explore. You will find it easy to settle in here at this charming waterside home but you will find it hard to leave.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Easter family gathering at Lake Lodge. It is extremely homely, welcoming house in a private spot. The boats, kayaks and tennis court were enjoyed, as well as many walks around the grounds and along the local canals and rivers.
