The attractive town of Kirriemuir, with its narrow wynds and quaint cottages, is 19 miles away. The town has a good range of independent shops and boutiques, along with eateries serving local dishes. Family attractions include the birthplace of JM Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, and the camera obscura which offers panoramic views of the town. Just outside the town is the wildlife haven of Loch of Kinnordy. This RSPB nature reserve is home to rare wetland birds, that can be observed from the boardwalks and hides.
The area surrounding the holiday home is packed with hidden tracks and trails to explore. You’ll find various routes through the magnificent Glen Clova, where you’ll be rewarded for your efforts with stunning views across Loch Brandy. Alternatively, head to the nature reserve at Corrie Fee and marvel at the amazing natural amphitheatre, along with the fabulous array of wildlife. From here, routes take you to the summits of the Munros of Mayar and Driesh, or deep into the Glen Doll Forest.
Glamis Castle, 24 miles away, makes a great day out for all the family. Soak up 600 years of Scottish history on a tour of the castle, where HM The Queen Mother spent her childhood, before exploring the immaculate gardens or sampling the home-grown seasonal produce in the delightful restaurant. There’s also a playground and nature trail for children.
